Scott Pilgrim Trailer

Fight! Thanks to our friends from the UK at the great HeyUGuys blog, we have a brand new UK trailer for Edgar Wright's Scott Pilgrim vs. the World to feature today. It has quite a bit of new footage, mostly at the beginning, and a bit near the end, including: some full scenes with Scott's naggy (ex-)girlfriend Knives Chau (played by Ellen Wong) plus some hilarious lines from evil-ex #3 - Todd Ingram (played by Brandon Routh). I think I'm most looking forward to seeing Mary Elizabeth Winstead melt the hearts of millions of guys (including me) than anything else, except maybe the fight scenes? But I've said enough - fire it up.

Watch the new UK trailer for Edgar Wright's Scott Pilgrim vs. the World from YouTube:

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is directed by brilliant British filmmaker Edgar Wright, of cult classics Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz previously. The screenplay was co-written by Edgar Wright and actor Michael Bacall and is based on the Oni Press comic book series of the same name. The story follows a Canadian boy named Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) who must defeat his new girlfriend's (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) seven evil exes in order to win her heart. We've been following this since it was announced and as a fan of the comic books, I'm very excited. Universal is bringing Scott Pilgrim vs. the World to theaters everywhere on August 13th.

I was getting kinda worn out on Cera but this looks kinda funny and I love Hot Fuzz and Sean Of The Dead is one of my favorites so I'll see this because of Edgar.

This looks weak. I can't believe the hype its getting...it looks cheezy, they threw a lot of money around on special effects like writing "pow" and "zap" in the air,so stupid...I love edgar wright, but this just looks awful, Unless you're 15 (Alex).I get it, people hear from other people that its good, but to me, it looks precious and an ideal vessel to trick the youth into spending 12 bucks on a indie book turned movie...nick and nora meets shazam if you ask me.another example of how somethings Can't translate to film. The art in the comic is lackluster so I guess it makes sense the movie looks to be following suit.

I loved Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz was not quite as good though...but this is looking great, the pee bar was hilarious. I appreciate it that they stuck to "pixelated grafics".

@6 So you're not a fan, who cares? Have you even read the series? If not, then why comment on it? I love the style of the book, art and story, and it looks like the film could do justice to the vision that O'Malley has. There's a reason for the "pow" and "zap" style, and those jokes and others are clear in the book. So unless you're fully informed about what Scott Pilgrim is, why bash it? Don't you have better things to do?

#5 If SHAUN of the Dead is one of your favorites shouldn't you be able to spell it correctly?

Wasn't kick ass getting a lot a buzz and ended it being somewhat of a disappointment? My point is that in spite of the awesome trailers this could be not as good as people are lead to believe. I'm still going to watch it opening weekend though, I believe in Edgar Wright.

this may have worked in comic books but this looks weak for real. Oh, and Michael Cera is a complete douche.

I loved Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. This movie looks like shit, I hope it loses money...lots of money.

Craptastic on Jun 17, 2010

17

Wow 17...interesting that you say you're this huge fan of Wright and then go on to say that you hope the biggest film of his career so far loses money. Kind of contradictory...

yeah that is kinda odd #17...like very odd.

I dont understand dudes attraction to this chick, shes pretty I guess when she was in Die hard, but with that pink hair she looks terrible, and not at all hot or attractive.

@Cody w, she's a different kind of hot, at least to me, smae goes for Kat Dennings and Kristen Stewart. They are all beautiful women in like lets say an indie type of way...well that's how I describe those three.

SP: "I dislike you, capesh?" Ex: "Tell it to the cleaning lady on monday." SP: "What?" Ex: "Because you'll be dust on monday." SP: "Um..." Ex: "Because you'll be polverized in 2 seconds, and the cleaning lady, she cleans up dust. She dusts!" Funny stuff. Can't wait.

Woopy for the cleaning lady joke which I laughed crazily about when reading it in the comics.
