Captain Jack is back! Disney is pulling out all the stops to get our attention focused on this new trailer. The Mouse House has unveiled the first teaser trailer on Yahoo for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the fourth new movie in their incredibly popular pirating adventure series, this time directed by Rob Marshall. As expected, Johnny Depp is back as Jack Sparrow and he's joined by Geoffrey Rush, Penélope Cruz, Ian McShane, Stephen Graham, Judi Dench and Gemma Ward. This actually looks surprisingly quite fun, I will say that I'm looking forward to it, but it's not too high on my list next summer. Watch and enjoy.

Jack Sparrow (Depp) and Barbossa (Rush) embark on a quest to find the elusive fountain of youth hinted at the end of At World's End, only to learn that Blackbeard (McShane) and his daughter are after it, too.
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is directed by Oscar nominated director Rob Marshall, whose only previous directing credits are Chicago, Memoirs of a Geisha and the musical Nine. The screenplay was once again written by franchise regulars Ted Elliott & Terry Rossio, based on Tim Power's book On Stranger Tides. Disney is bringing Pirates of the Caribbean 4 to theaters in 3D starting on May 20th next summer.

Cruz has natural a 'swashbuckling' look about her. Other then that, I have a hard time discerning if I really, really, really want to see this movie. Currently, I'm simply interested in seeing it.

Looks like more Sparrow and eye liner. I liked all 3 movies, hope this one is just as entertaining.

this definitely looks like a completely new franchise. looks like there's a smaller budget too. or maybe the script didnt need the extra money. but doesn't seem like there is a ton of cg in it.

The 3rd one was horrible...I hope this one makes up for it. And I'm glad Orlando Bloom decided not to come back. As far as I'm concerned him and Channing Tatum are two of the worst actors out there.

# 6, I agree in an absolute 100% I've never been a fan of this franchise at all. I hope with the new cast omissions, the new director and the lovely Penelope, everything changes for good...

While I'm not about to label this a must see I will say it looks more interesting than the two sequels that preceded it. It's only a trailer but it looks to be a much better story with a decent pace to it. Overall I'm still on the fence.

the 3rd movie left me with a headache after the marriage, battle, rainstorm @#$%fest... this trailer actually looks like it breathes new life into the series. high hopes!

Definitely has a way different feel to it then the other Pirate films. I just hope it can keep the same rollicky, fast-moving action. This looks like the fights and fancy have really slowed down. But yeah, Cruz is looking sultry as a pirate. Huge upgrade from Knightley.

i saw this yesterday and it looks like more of the same......and that's not a bad thing IF the story is as good as the original and NOT like the 2 sequels. #1 - i disagree completely - penelope cruz seems VERY miscast here. i thought she was the worst part of this first reveal. right now, i'm "meh" on this. i hope they are actually trying to make a good movie and not just milking the cow some more.

They seem to be keeping up the same stuff from the first three films in terms of laughs and ridiculous action but it's getting stale. In fact, it was stale by the second film. I'd watch it because there aren't that many adventure movies out there that are in the same vain as pirates.

Alex, you forgot Rob Marshall directed the TV version of Annie in 1999... 😉 BLAH! This one seemed to not be filled with all the CGI of the last one. Hopefully that means better script and more laughs.

Having Cruz in this is an epic fail. Cant stand her. Terrible actress and has no business being in this. This movie is going to suck. Bloom and Knightley are smart not to attach their names to this. It's about time that Cruz took some acting lessons and possibly gets rid of that accent if she wants to take on other roles aside from the "SPANISH LOVE INTEREST".

So...#34, what the fuck is your point? If her talent doesn't translate to English-language films...and this is an English-language film...what does that bode? I suppose we could wait for the DVD and watch it with the language set to "Spanish." That being said, Captain Jack is one of the most beloved modern pirate heroes... Then again, I guess there aren't that many modern pirate heroes...but I digress... I enjoyed the first three movies, and no doubt will also enjoy this one...when I rent it for $2.99 (and possibly watch it in Spanish...just in case Cruz is able to pull something off, apart from her clothes).

Looks great and funny, looking forward to see it. But i wouldn't call this a teaser trailer. It's already a full lenght trailer imho.

I'll bet Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightly aren't completely out. They will probably make cameos somewhere in this, or in the other two to follow. This isn't a reboot, and remember, Will Turner is now the captain of the Flying Dutchman, and Elizabeth Swan-Turner is the captain of that chinese ship. They're off doing their own piratey things, but they'll likely be seen again in the franchise. I'm not excited to see Bloom again, though he's a passable actor, not a great one. On the other hand, I think Kiera Knightly is as good an actress as Cruz, and probably better. Cruz is way sexier, though.

Reminds me a lot of the first pirates!! Not so much CGI in involved but more creativity! This is how a lot of true movies should be. More live action and not so much CGI! But then again I might be wrong and this might have more than I think! I was abig fan of the first pirates, hopefully their trying to go back to the roots!

I think the storyline is quite interesting but the fact that Penelope Cruz is in this movie is just horrible. Seriously dislike her and her acting!!!!!

they're playing up the comedy aspects, which is fine by me if they are as good as the ones in the trailer (how is this a 'teaser' at 2 1/2 minutes?). will try and avoid any further trailers, as there's a lot of the film in this already. i still agree with many other posters, in that the series doesn't *need* a 4th, but i also agree with @23 / Eli - there are so few, genuine adventure films out there (and the last attempt at Indiana Jones doesn't count - but the first 3 most definitely do). colour me converted for an evening of harmless, non-intellectual fun next summer.
