My Soul to Take Trailer

Are you ready for a glimpse at Wes Craven's new "signature villain"? Yahoo has debuted the trailer for My Soul to Take, Craven's next horror movie before Scream 4 that stars Max Thieriot and a bunch of other teen actors. I wanted this to be good, and look good, but it really feels like a punk rock horror movie aimed squarely at teenagers and that's it. Though we don't get a solid look at the villain, it seems like they just hired Rob Zombie to chase people around in scraggly clothes and long hair, but maybe he's more menacing than he looks in this trailer. Then again, this kind of horror is not my thing, so maybe I'm being too harsh.

My Soul to Take is about a serial killer who returns to his hometown to stalk seven children who share the same birthday as the date he was allegedly put to rest. Craven explained previously that "it's more a thriller than slasher film, and revolves around a young kid with a very dark past involving his family and his father." The film stars Max Thieriot, Zena Grey and a full line-up of young budding actors. We still have no idea who or what exactly that "new" villain is, but it looks like he is just some crazy, demented guy. Universal will be bringing My Soul to Take to theaters everywhere in early fall this October 8th. Your thoughts? Look okay?

Looks very interesting. I remembe a long while back this movie was called something else. It was like a date I think. I'll be seeing it.

Ha, I knew Max when I was a kid. This is weird. Oh, and the movie looks cheesy. I didn't even finish watching it.

Nice twist but that's about it. Wes Craven sucks.

I know that describing a movie as "this" meets "that is so cliche, look like Nightmare on Elmstreet meets Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning meets the director of the Halloween Reboot meets Cloverfield. Sorry, I just got carried away and couldn't stop. Forget that Cloverfield part.

"Bringing you closer to fear in 3-D" hahahahahaahaha, fucking stupid. When are these victims gonna learn that "No, please" and "Don't kill me" and sobbing loudly aren't going to stop a murderer from merking them? Epic "MEH" from me.

Looks OK, guess we will see this in front of PIRANHA. The on thing that I must applaud though is that these high schoolers actually LOOK like high schoolers.

Hard to say if it will tank or not.. It's cool it takes place in MA, though.

the first half looked great. the second half look awful and typical and stupid.

Brian Ricci on Aug 17, 2010

Well atleast they actually look llike teens in this. I'm tired of seeing 30 year olds play teenagers. Also this movie looks decent, but will it be the comeback Craven needs ? I hope so.

oh cool, 3D...... -.-

lolz I'm with #10, most interesting thing is the song. I think I remember that song (band at least) from WWE Smackdown vs Raw 07 or 08. Ironically I thought it was Mick Foley as the killer. $5 says it's Bug's mom is the killer, and yes he's the ripper's kid. Serial Killer's kid = villain... cliche... Serial Killers's kid = villain's scapegoat and kills killer BIGGER cliche

Feels like a NOES rip-off.

ryderup on Aug 18, 2010

I thought it looked more like Hagrid from Harry Potter.

It doens't look THAT bad.

Robbie on Aug 18, 2010

It was called " 25/8 " and the high school was in Tolland CT. That's whet I went. 🙂

I think the song is called "One of us is going down" by Sick Puppies. The movie looks like an entertaining horror flick, and I like Max Thieriot. I'm in.

I'm tired of serial killer movies that could end in three minutes if the main character had a gun and knew how to use it. I'll wait for At the Mountains of Madness from Del Torro.

Looked good, then the cheesy song started playing.
