Vanishing on 7th Street Trailer

Don't trust the light. STYD has premiered the first trailer for Vanishing on 7th Street, the new film from The Machinist director Brad Anderson about a group of people who wake up to find everyone dead. Well, there's eventually a small group that bands together in a dimly-lit tavern on 7th Street, struggling to survive. While I don't really care for Hayden Christensen, there are some awesome shots in this, like when that plane crashes at the beginning. Plus, I'm intrigued by the "stay in the light" concept. So this is a re-imagining of I Am Legend? Vanishing will premiere at the Toronto Film Fest next month, but check out this trailer first.

Watch the first trailer for Brad Anderson's Vanishing on 7th Street from YouTube:

Originally, Vanishing on 7th Street is described as more of a psychological thriller about these five survivors who are fighting to stay alive "while grappling with the meaning of existence," since they realize they may in fact be the last people on earth. Sounds like a Stephen King-inspired thriller about some people trapped in this one location, which reminds me a bit of The Mist. I hope this is much better than that film (I didn't love it), but with Brad Anderson directing, I don't think we have to worry. Vanishing on 7th Street stars Hayden Christensen, Thandie Newton and John Leguizamo, but doesn't have a US distributor or release date.

This looks actually pretty good.

meh at best...

Left hook and he's down! on Aug 18, 2010

It's Pitch Black on Earth. I hope Vin Diesel comes down to kick some ass and some Transformers come too. Looks nae bads.

Crapola on Aug 18, 2010

I like Anderson. Still, this trailer didn't get to me.

Eli on Aug 18, 2010

Oooh, I love those shadowy people things, they look awesome. I'm looking forward to this.

Robbie on Aug 18, 2010

I'll watching anything Anderson directs (Big fan of Session9, Machinist, and Transiberian). But this trailer did very little for more me.

TheGuyInThePJs on Aug 18, 2010

I'm one of the rare fans of Hayden Christensen so no complaints there. John Leguizamo always kills me, even when he played Luigi. Looks like a fun flick my girlfriend will beg me to go see.

Hedgehog on Aug 18, 2010

Alan Wake?

JSG on Aug 18, 2010

What's with the Croatoan? Is this about lost colony? cool

Allie on Aug 18, 2010

I'm with #9 hahaha

TumM on Aug 18, 2010

Thank God I live in Toronto. Yes, I do love my city. Buying tickets asap, I must say this concept looks extremely well done (that being the light thing). However, the mentioning of Mist makes me cringe cause that movie was poorly done, good idea, poor executed though. I have high hopes, here's to hoping for another good TIFF!

Matthew on Aug 18, 2010

for some strange reason i started laughin at the end, even though it looks like a decent rental :/

ray on Aug 18, 2010

Looks pretty good. Loved The Machinist and Transsiberian.

LINKFX on Aug 18, 2010

Yeah, not too excited about this one. Love Leguizamo, but...this just looks like a lot of rehashing. And all the bodies being gone creeps me out less than if they were there, just dead.

Ian Carruthers on Aug 18, 2010

Yeah that wasn't the best trailer ever but I wanna see more, I'm still waiting Christensen to find the one role that really proves him as an actor (I'm a fan and I have no idea why!). The concept is good, the cast is pretty decent. Too bad Alan Wake came out this year, which was overrated at best but the comparsions are gonna get worse.

Xerxex on Aug 18, 2010

Why doesn't he just use his- light saber?- te hehehehehehehe 🙂

indyjack on Aug 18, 2010

Even on a shitty movie Hayden Christensen makes it look shittier. If that's even possible. Those small lines he did in the trailer just shows how bad of an actor he is. How did he even get in the buisness? What moron said, Oh yeah, got to have that guy in my movie.

the douche on Aug 18, 2010

I think Hayden Christian will be good in this flick. He's one of those actors who needs to be directed, and George Lucas doesn't direct actors. He wasn't the only one who sucked in those Star Wars flicks, they all did. Session 9 4 life! Lucas blows.

ThaSaltShaker on Aug 18, 2010

I like the concept about not trusting a light thats not your own. Willow-the-Wisp ish. I'm not sure I'll rush out to see it, but I'll watch it.

harm on Aug 18, 2010

People need to leave Hayden Christensen alone. For the last time HE DID NOT RUIN STAR WARS! He's a decent actor; not and Oscar winner, but decent.

lamar on Aug 18, 2010

This looks really mediocre. I'm okay with the rehashing of the script, and realistic events that follow: the plane crashing; however, once it stretches into a "paranormal" type movie with shadows on walls, it moves out of the fantasy/epic to horror. I just don't think this was originally meant for that.

Chad on Aug 18, 2010

The Mist was an awesome movie, if not only for the reason that it is almost EXACTLY like the Steven King short story. Doesn't matter if you think it's a good film or not when it's such a damn good conversion.

JTMoney on Aug 18, 2010

shit if i was the last person alive....i would just drive like crazy, drive different cars and walk naked every where

Darren on Aug 18, 2010

I would sooner strip the first 3 layers of skin off my entire body with a pair of pliers than watch anything Hayden Christenfuckstick has to contribute to cinema. Fuck him in his ass then his eyes so he can see what it feels like to see nothing but shit. Hayden or Jar Jar? Tough call to see who actually ruined the franchise. Hayden has actually moved to the top of the list of Actors I would automatically punch in the face with no questions asked. He has usurped the previous titleholder Kevin Costner after quite a lengthy run. and while we're at it, I don't care much for Thandie Newton either. Leguizamo still rocks, just unfortunate he's keeping such poor company these days. If this starred anyone else on the planet, I'd check it out.

DLM Entertainment on Aug 18, 2010

I agree with #20. George Lucas is the worst director, but a good storyteller. He should've never directed SW episodes I-III. Christensen was a horrible actor in episodes II-III. Hayden Christensen could act better under a certain director.

Jedibilly on Aug 18, 2010

It reminded me of The Langoliers, another Stephen King thing.

Jay on Aug 18, 2010

This is the shortened version: Same idea different outcome, more amusing. C'mon guys stop moaning about Star Wars.

Crapola on Aug 18, 2010

xerxex, watch "shattered glass". christensen was outstanding (as was peter sarsgaard) and it was the first movie i'd ever seen with HC. alex (and the rest who didn't like "the mist" - i don't know why - it was well acted; had a creepy mystery; had some bizarre creatures (the spiders especially); had some good black humor etc....etc .........i thought it was excellent. as far as the trailer goes - i think it looks good. i absolutely loved the opening with HC walking out into an empty city and then the plane goes down in the i'm also curious as to what the guy meant when he said: "only trust the light you're holding"........hmmmmm, ominous. i loved "the machinist" and "session 9"..........this looks to be just as entertaining. #19 and 25..........good god - what the hell did christensen do to you guys to cause that kind of unnecessary hate?

beavis on Aug 18, 2010

@beavis I've seen "Shattered Glass" like three times and every viewing gets better! Sarsgaard was indeed great, as was Azaria (as usual). As for The Mist I bought it after I saw a clip on youtube and I loved it! Brad Anderson is a very talented director and this looks promising.

Xerxex on Aug 18, 2010

It feels like an Alan Wake and I Am Legend hybrid screenplay. Really not that interested in it.

ShadowAdama on Aug 18, 2010

Isn't a person supposed to be more freaked out when a plane crashes?

f on Aug 18, 2010

Looks like a very interesting concept, and Hayden isn't ALWAYS bad. He was actually pretty good in Shattered Glass.

Craig on Aug 18, 2010

Darkness Falls Sucks. Although I would enjoy watching Hayden Christensen die...

Morlock on Aug 18, 2010

Pulse, anyone?

Scared S-less!!! on Aug 18, 2010

For those who doubted Hayden acting chops you should see Shattered Glass And yea, I think Hayden is one of those actors who needs a strong direction to bring out the goods

Gary the Bruce on Aug 18, 2010

Hayden isn't on the level of Tatum so he should be considered good. I like him and I think he has a lot of potential. @9 that's what it reminded me of a little. lol.

Eli on Aug 18, 2010

Hayden showed that he can act in Shattered Glass and this looks decent. Now my biggest problem with it is Thandie Newton who I think is one of the worse actors in the Hollywood!

chad on Aug 18, 2010

The best psychological thriller with a similar subject is the pilot episode of the "Twilight Zone" (The original 1959 series) with the title "Where Is Everybody?"

var2apo on Aug 18, 2010

looked pretty good.

deadpool72 on Aug 19, 2010

it looks like a remake of 'The Quiet Earth'

butliere on Aug 19, 2010

I love Brad Anderson, so I have high hopes despite the questionable roster of actors.

YK on Aug 19, 2010

Interesting, but I agree with Alex, reminded me of I am Legend, just with a shit actor in the lead.

dom on Aug 20, 2010

Session 9 is great.

Brian Ricci on Aug 20, 2010

this looks so much like the phantoms by Dean R. Koontz.... loved the book and the movie with Ben Affleck was ok. this movie has that same kinda night time assailant with it s own twist, that just kinda vaporizes flesh. and i am kinda excited to see this from start to finish.

Burak "D'aequitas" on Aug 20, 2010

I Loved The Machinist. I recently saw The Mist when I got free showtime for the weekend and I really liked it. It left me thinking WTF? with a smile on my face. It looks like a decent movie that I'd watch and hopefully it will be better than the trailer looks to me.

arjones on Aug 21, 2010

Looks Like Its Gonna Explore The CROATOAN mystery. Where A Whole Settlement of People In Virginia Back When america was being colonized just up and vanished. Everything was still in tact the people were just gone. All that was found was the word "CROATOAN" carved in a tree. Same word appears in this movies trailer.

NafiisW on Aug 23, 2010

I liked Session 9 and The Machinist a lot, so I'll probably see this, but I don't exactly have high hopes for it. I have yet to see transsiberian as the trailer didn't really set me on fire. This looks interesting, but that plane crash was not good looking at all. I hope they don't need too many effects, cause it looks like they gave a highschool kid a copy of after effects to do that shot. The reaction to the crash wasn't that great either. "What was that noise? Oh, just a plane crashing. Man, would you look at that... That sure is something..."

Squiggly_P on Aug 23, 2010

I hate Hayden Chrstianson...but this looked interesting.

Eric on Aug 24, 2010

What's up with the complete ripoff of "The Happening" poster?

Emjay on Sep 14, 2010

Saw it @ TIFF. Not his best, but pretty damned good. My fav is Machinest.
