Conviction Trailer

Now this is a film I haven't actually heard of before today, but it looks good. Apple has debuted the official trailer for Tony Goldwyn's Conviction, a new Fox Searchlight dramatic legal thriller, based on a true story, starring Hilary Swank and Sam Rockwell. It looks like a very intense drama about, well, how screwed up and corrupt our legal system can be, as Swank tries to free her wrongfully imprisoned brother. I don't know if Swank or Rockwell may be awards contenders for this, but it's definitely a possibility. It looks pretty good, a little heavy-handed, but I'll probably catch it in the fall. Take a look below and let us know what you think?

A working mom puts herself through law school in an effort to represent her brother, who was wrongfully convicted of murder and has exhausted his chances of appealing his conviction through public defenders.

Conviction is directed by actor/filmmaker Tony Goldwyn, who previously directed the films The Last Kiss, Someone Like You, and A Walk on the Moon, as well as numerous TV shows. The screenplay was written by Pamela Gray of A Walk on the Moon and Music of the Heart previously. It's based on the inspirational true story of Betty Anne Waters. Fox Searchlight is bringing Conviction to theaters on October 15th this year.

Just had a look at the link... UPDATE: Sam Rockwell's character fell off a wall two years later, went into a coma and died... Swanks character now training for Messiah status to raise him from dead....

Sad to read that the real Kenneth Waters died just six month after being released from prison, due to a freak accident. If this film does anything, I hope it inspires people to believe in themselves and realise that as long as they put their minds to it, they can accomplish anything. Will definitely be seeing this one. RIP Kenneth Waters.

Gheese! He died six months after he was released from prison! What is that? Karma? God? Luck? Talk about emotional roller-coaster straight from hell! Rockwell has been excellent in his last few films, I wouldn't mind checking this one out.

doesn't telling us he died count as a spoiler, guys? i know it's widely available information, but it's not common knowledge like the Titanic sinking. nonetheless, great Oscar fodder, and i'm dying to see Rockwell get some respect for his talent. this looks like it might fit the bill!

Def some heavy hitters in this one. I'm hopin it's not just a bunch of sappy drama. I like Swank and I love Rockwell. The supporting cast looks great. I've seen this before though if any of you remember Hurricane.

I hope Rockwell gets his first Oscar nomination for this one (which he should have had and won with Moon)!

i agree but i would have to have to watch the full movie to say if swank get her oscar hatrick but from what i see now yea i smell an oscar or at least thats what im hoping

^^^ The only way to tell if Swank wins a hatrick is to see if Annette Bening is in any oscar fodder film being released this year and gets nominated. That woman is Swank's rabbit's foot and whipping post. Oh ... and not only do I agree about Rockwell.... I gotta say Juliette Lewis looks like she's back in top form.

Wow, that actually looks really good, despite the cheesy voiceover. I am a big fan of Sam Rockwell. I will definitely have to check this out when it comes out

Big Oscar Bait! I think this movie has a definite chance of giving Hilary Swank a 3rd Oscar, Sam Rockwell at least a much needed nod and Best Picture nod.
