"We can not lose Los Angeles." A few days ago we featured the very first extremely impressive teaser trailer for Jonathan Liebesman's Battle: Los Angeles, which looked like Black Hawk Down plus aliens starring Aaron Eckhart. Well, not long after that teaser hit, another international version appeared on the official website, but we decided to wait a few days so there wouldn't be any confusion and everyone could enjoy that first teaser. This one, instead of using a fantastic song to set the mood, gets intense rather quickly and has a District 9-like feel with lots of news footage. It still looks badass, but in a totally different way. Check it out!
Watch a new international teaser trailer for Jonathan Liebesman's Battle: Los Angeles:
A young Marine platoon, lead by Aaron Eckhart, faces off against a surprise alien invasion in Los Angeles.
Battle: Los Angeles is directed by South African-born director Jonathan Liebesman, of Darkness Falls, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning and The Killing Room previously, but he is really breaking out in a good way with this. The screenplay credit, according to IMDb, goes solely to Christopher Bertolini, of only The General's Daughter and Madso's War previously. Sony / Columbia Pictures will be bringing Battle: Los Angeles to theaters everywhere starting on March 11th, 2011 next year! Does that look awesome or what?

It was weather balloons in 1942! or so they say. I heard the Strauss Bros. worked on this project but left to film Skyline, looks like they jumped the gun to soon First teaser was more emotional ans I happened to like that one more, but this one wasn't too shabby.

Ahh. The "World Invasion" title will work wonders for the sequels. Just replace Los Angeles with another big city somewhere on the planet. Battle: Moscow will be sweeeeeet.

Is there some Dark Knight in that score?

#8 - that's a very interesting idea. if this movie ends up being as fantastic as it looks, i could see something like that happening.

at the ending of the trailer: "We cannot lose los angeles". I have to say that i think if there were an alien world invasion that Los Angeles is possibly one the cities that we could lose, of all the cities in the world Los Angeles is the one we can't lose?

After the debacle of Skyline, I wont get too excited for this one! Want to exercise some restraint on my expectations! Trailers are meant to pull people in, the actual movie can be a lot different and worst!

@#3 There are pictures (and several eye witnesses) that make it very hard to believe the weather balloon story.

Skyline was a letdown... more like a SCI-FI channel Saturday night special, however, this looks more promising!

That's pretty funny how they added to the title. I see why they had to do it, but the thinking behind it is hilarious. Does anyone else feel like the aliens look more like robots?

Demond I've seen them, makes for a great urban legend and a perfect set up to the film.

People and their so called agenda... Do you think it really matters if the director was born on Pandora? He is a director period with an impressive movie. Any other comment is likely to add any bias to his genius or lack of it. I am not having a go @ you Alex or any other person posting on this webbie, it's global what I am saying. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Anyway, you guys are a bit late, here is a preview of The Green Lantern : http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=71645 The fans will not like much this link, because the costume looks so, so fake. The flying leaves much to be desired and the so called space scenes....pfff I hope it's not the case but it looks like they didn't get it . Even when he uses his ring, it should be a beam, not a flame like stuff!

I hope the actors all get together and save the world. Arnie at the front will Stallone taking the rear. 'Your superior technology is nothing compared with my ability to make tears!'. I thought LA was the world?

Looks good. The aliens better win though, it just would't make any sense if we were able to prevail over them.

I have to agree with Sean (#22) on this one. Take a chance, Hollywood - let us lose.

I ask this in my blog but does anyone else get the feeling they are setting this up as a potential franchise with each movie in different cities? If the movie is as good as these trailers have been I don't mind that at all.

Still not completely sold on this. Its a little late in the alien/indie type films and it looks like it doesn't do anything different or new. Let's see what the previews say. Anyone else feel this has a transformers feel to it?

I've gotta agree with others. What tactical advantage does LA offer?!

Did you LA haters even watch the trailer? New York was lost, Tokyo was lost etc, LA to them is one of the last remaining human cities, and it could be Nebraska, but would anyone wanna watch "Battle: Nebraska?"

Hahaha, so why were Germans firing anti-air guns in LA? But seriously, this looks pretty damn good. And for all the people who are upset about it being in LA.... who fucking cares?

I just saw this trailer on Youtube, and hell yeah this movie is a must watch. I don't care if it's repetitive, lame, took from other movies or whatever.I liked what i have seen back their.

They want our water. I would think that Aliens that have mastered intergalactic travel would have figured out that water is freaking EVERYWHERE in the cosmos.

I'll take a shot at answering the question on losing LA. Here's the first thing to think about: Is the speaker from the Air Force? If so, Edwards Air Force base is probably on his mind. And, NASA and the Air Force would not want to lose that base. Take a look at what that place can do: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edwards_Air_Force_Base BTW, I like the trailer... 🙂

LA has no tactical value but the guy in the trailer said they lost alot of cities, maybe its were they make there final stand or its one of the last major cities left in america.
