Sucker Punch is Zack Snyder's first movie not based on previous material, but an original idea that he came up with and turned into a screenplay with co-writer Steve Shibuya. Set in the 1950's, Sucker Punch follows Baby Doll (Emily Browning) who is confined to a mental institution by her stepfather, who intends to have her lobotomized in five days. While there, she imagines an alternative reality to hide her from the pain, and begins planning her escape, needing to steal five objects to help get her out before she is deflowered by a vile man. Warner Brothers is bringing Sucker Punch to theaters starting on March 25th in a few more months.

I've moved past my misogyny and accept that this movie will probably rock my eyeballs clean out of my skull. The only thing stopping this is the actresses acting abilities. God damn, those actresses.

I hope there's a good story and solid script to go along with the amazing look of this movie.

Totally agree with #4. The movie 'looks' amazing. I have do not have any doubts in Zack Synder's directing abilities. Man of Steel is definitely in good hands. But I having doubts on the screenplay and acting for Sucker Punch. But it still definitely on my 'to watch' list!

From a female perspective, this ad is much better than previous trailers, because it cuts out the brothel stuff and the threat that she is going to be raped. These elements are severe turn offs to young females. Girls have never been attracted to brothel settings in movies and it was stupid to add it in the first place. The mental institution would have been enough without the whores/stripper elements. If WB is serious with all their talk of bringing in the female viewers, they will have Snyder cgi a little more clothes on the girls and edit out all possible references to brothel, strippers, and rape. Get very creative in the editing room and take as much of that out as possible. Change the official description to take out the "deflowered by a vile man" part. It's a stupid line that is gross to young females. Maybe WB has given up on building a female audience for this movie, in which case they can ignore all this advice. But there are appealing elements to females, like some girl-power kick assery, amazing visuals, cute outfits and nice makeup. Females would turn up if they didn't think they would have to sit through some uncomfortable brothel and stripper moments.

Movie looks insane, off the wall, but...I'd still like to see it, and I've liked what Snyder has done so far. Hell, he managed to bring WATCHMEN to the big screen after so many had tried and (at least in my view) it worked very well. @6: "the only actress's who suck is jamie chung and vanessa". Not to sound like a douche, but...where is your evidence for this? Or is it because they are two attractive young women, and, ergo, they are not supposed to be able to act? "that fucking mech looks awesome". Well, I agree with that.

Since this is Snyder's first original script / concept, I'm gonna go see this just to see if he has some substance hiding behind all that style. I mean, visually his stuff is really good if not over the top, but he's been taking most of his directing cues from comics. It'll be interesting to see what sort of stuff he comes up with when he has to stage his own scenes and dialogue. This movie will definitely be a trip, either way.

And like others have said, the movie LOOKS awesome. I hope it has a solid story and everything to go with it. If not, i'll be disappointed. But I am definitely pumped for this.

Tbh, I don't think there's any reason why a movie with Silversun Pickups in its trailer could do bad.
Nathaniel on Dec 14, 2010
@Micah Emily Browning is in it, lol. She's the blonde one!
