This arrived a little earlier than we expected, but it's here now nonetheless so check it out. Sony has debuted the official teaser trailer for their new CGI The Smurfs movie featuring the voices of a whole hell of a lot of people. Neil Patrick Harris, who plays Johan in the movie, introduces this teaser, and boy does it set quite a precedent. I now know we're going to be seeing increasingly more and more of this "Smurf'd" and "Smurf This" and "Smurf That" stuff for the next… 14 months until this hits theaters. Yes, The Smurfs doesn't even arrive in theaters until August 2011. It's a long wait, but will it be worth it? It's up to you to decide. Enjoy?
Watch the very first teaser trailer for Raja Gosnell's The Smurfs from YouTube:
The Smurfs is directed by veteran family filmmaker Raja Gosnell, of Home Alone 3, Never Been Kissed, Big Momma's House, Scooby-Doo 1 & 2, Yours, Mine and Ours, and Beverly Hills Chihuahua. The screenplay was co-written by J. David Stem & David N. Weiss (of The Rugrats Movie, Jimmy Neutron, Clockstoppers, Shrek 2, Are We There Yet?, Daddy Day Camp) and is based on the tiny little characters created by Belgian artist Peyo. Katy Perry voices Smurfette, Paul Reubens voices Jokey Smurf, B.J. Novak voices Baker Smurf and Jeff Foxworthy voices Handy Smurf. Sony is bringing The Smurfs to theaters in 3D August 3rd, 2011.

I feel so blue!!! π Funny thing and I will enjoy it. The smurfs donΒ΄t look bad and I think it will be a big fun. But I am sure when the movie is finished and the press will begin to promote I will hate that everybody will be in the smurf hype and talk like a smurf and wear clothes like a smurf etc. At the end we will hate the smurfs. π π And I want to see Smurfette!!! π

@9... I bet that would be a great short film, too bad you'd probably get lawsuits up your ass. It might be worth it though if it's good enough to get you on Hollywood's radar. It would have to be hard R though, like the new mortal combat short film floating around the web.

Kill me. I'm contemplating not seeing Toy Story 3 so I don't have to see this in the theater.

I hate it how every movie still advertises the movie saying its "IN 3D!".. There hasnt been any kids movies or cartoons etc in old classic 2D for a while now, so why even say the 3D.. It seems to be the new standard (which is sad).

Do me a favor folks. Go in to your kitchen, grab 3 apples and stack them sumbitches. Now imagine that running around your house. That's some creepy shit. Which leads me to my next question...how fucking big was that cat? This movie will suck the lifeforce out of humanity, both kids and adults alike. I too was swept up in the Smurf wave (I was a child in the 80's and I had a TV, there was no choice) and it wasn't my preferred cartoon of choice, but it was amusing. Now, we're back to Smurf this and Smurf that and you look smurfy and all that shit. Well let me just say this about that...smurf my smurfing smurf you smurfing smurf. Smurfs get a movie, Thundercats gets a movie, He-Man gets a movie, yet there's no love for Rubik the Amazing Cube! Menudo on ABC, Menudo on ABC, Menudo on ABC... Anyone over the age of 30 is going to have that stuck in their head all day long. You're welcome! http://www.dlmentertainment.com/?p=82104&pn=Smurfs+and+the+Magic+Flute%2C+The+11+x+17+Movie+Poster+Style+A Cheers, Derek M DLM Entertainment

The Smurfs in Manhattan?? Why would they DO that, instead of in Smurfland or whatever? Great, make the kids feel cheated.

I just smurfed my pants, god that looks awesome. But seriously, what is supposed to happen in this movie? I mean the cartoon was very thin on plot, usually revolving around the smurfs avoiding getting eaten by gargamel, so why would the smurfs come here and why would people interract with them? I telll you what if I saw a talking blue smurf I'm throwing him in the freezer where he belongs..

Geez it's a kids movie, we don't have to like it, it's for 4-7 yr olds. Most of that stuff is pretty annoying to grown up anyways, that's why we have booze.
