Must Watch: First Trailer for Fox's Water for Elephants Adaptation
Wow now this looks wonderful - The Tree of Life might have some competition. Fox has debuted the official trailer on Apple for Francis Lawrence's adaptation of Sara Gruen's beloved Water for Elephants. This period drama features an impressive cast: Robert Pattinson, Reese Witherspoon, Christoph Waltz, James Frain, Hal Holbrook and Paul Schneider. It's about a veterinarian who joins the local circus and falls in love and so on. This is just a fantastic trailer, a great way to introduce the heartwarming story and incredibly well put-together, plus the movie just looks mesmerizing and I love the music they use, too. Watch & enjoy!

Could be good with different leads but I can't stand both Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon so I will never watch this movie.

@Kevin, did you read the book? I'm only asking because, though I'm not a Witherspoon fan, when I read the book and the character's description my first thought was that if they ever made this into a movie she would be perfect for it. She is the character. Not sure about Pattinson, though. We'll see...

Script = amazing book = amazing casting = amazing direction = Tim burton but just bad
gmorra on Dec 15, 2010
Doesn't look bad. Smart to keep clips of Pattinson at a min. in the trailer but highlight real actors like Holbrook, Witherspoon, and Waltz. They are going to have to carry him.

reminds me of the titanic. old persons story of a love triangle told through flashback.
mehran on Dec 16, 2010
Pattinson's name before Waltz?? what a joke.

It looks awesome!!! Yeah that Witherspoon chick , she might end up a good actress after all. I think she is trying to prove me sth... More power to Pattinson for trying hard to evolve after the Twilight stuff. I hope he ends up like Di Caprio Anyway, why you guys always mention where the director was born. I mean can't just you guys be happy that a non american born direct for once and not care @ all. After all Everyone in America comes from somewhere to the exception of the natives so why bother mentioning Do you think we do care that Spielberg is Jew or Scorsese has European ancestry or that Nolan is both English and American???? No, we effing don't because we enjoy their movies for what they are and that's all. Some might care but they are really a minuscule minority and F them really bad because they are so full of stupid prejudices.

Looks really good. Christoph looks like he's going to steal this movie. Glad to see Pattinson breaking away from Twilight.

Great Book and it looks spot on...although the tone gets much darker than the preview shows.

@1...good....that means there will be a ticket for some one that does want to see it. @12 And just why isn't Rob Pattinson a real actor? This guy needs to be cut some slack....every actor starts some where, George Clooney started on "The Facts of Life"! If he's not acting in this or any other movie that he's been in then exactly what would you say he is doing? I don't get why people have to be so friggin' judgmental, if you can do a better job then why aren't you up on the big screen? The book was fantastic and going by the trailer the movie will follow suit.

@22. Well said.
Lar on Dec 16, 2010
C'mon guys, let's all give Pattinson at least one or two non-Twilight movies before we determine that he's a bad actor. Hell, if some of the Twitards go see this flick just because he's in it, maybe they'll accidentally like it and start watchinig more indie flicks. Can't be a bad thing, can it?
Squiggly_P on Dec 16, 2010
Does anyone know the music AFTER "Song for Jesse" that ends the trailer? That's definitely NOT from the Assassination of Jesse James.
Krisher on Dec 17, 2010
@24... I'm a Twilight fan and I also love films like Ramin Bahrani's "Goodbye Solo" and Cristian Mungiu's "4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days". What is this comment about Twilight fans not enjoying a good indie movie?
Marcus on Dec 17, 2010
I don't know why the hell people are so judgemental, i love Twilight and i'm a huge fan of it and i love Robert Pattinson, and he's a great actor and i'm not saying it just because he plays Edward Cullen(and i love Edward a lot) Rob is a great actor and she showed that in Remember me and I see this trailer and i feel so proud of him because he's so talented, so shut the fuck up people who are criticizing Robert Pattinson and this movie, all you say is "Robert this and Robert that, he isn't good for this movie, i'm not going to watch it becuase he's in it" and blah blah blah, well let me ask you something, why don't you go and play the character instead of him so you stop complaining like babies, please, be mature so this movie is great and so is Rob and i say it again, i'm not saying the movie and Rob are great because I love Twilight, i'm saying it because it's the truth
Yeleana on Dec 17, 2010
Hey I believe in second chances when it comes to actor's performances. I have seen the Twilight films unfortunately but i feel that Robert Pattinson may receive good feedback from this performance. It is a fantastic novel so how could he not do well. The script alone will benefit him. Sorry to a " Yeleana" if I have offended your apparent love for him, but I would like to add that he is just an actor and these previous comments are just opinions and they were merely critiquing. I have enjoyed films with Reese Witherspoon but also think she's too much of a comic for such a dark film. Hope she steps out of her comedian shadow. This book was enchanting to me and the trailer..the visual impact gave me the chills..I am counting the days until it is in theatres and am planning to re-read the novel.
Sarah on Dec 17, 2010
I'm a twilight fan and I will see this movie and ENJOY it. Not because RP is in it, because I actually read and enjoyed the book and I think it'll turn out great. RP is a good actor along with everyone else in the cast. Stop judging him because of twilight. Give the guy a chance.
