I know it's barely Halloween, and we're still a ways from Christmas, but it's still the perfect time to debut a new trailer for Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale, a crazy Finnish "Santa Claus" horror film which can't be described. Oscilliscope, who is releasing the US, debut the new high def trailer on Apple. Rare Exports is set in Finland and is about some locals who find a crazy Santa Claus-lookin' dirty guy, dug up from the ice of a huge mountain, running around. I had the chance to see this in Toronto, and it's a beautifully shot movie, but I had some problems with the story that I can't explain for spoiler reasons, but many others still loved it.

A movie for those who think they don't believe in Santa Claus anymore… In the depths of the Korvatunturi mountains, 486M deep, lies the closest ever guarded secret of Christmas… The time has come to dig it up!
Rare Exports is written and directed by Finnish filmmaker Jalmari Helander, who actually adapted his own award winning short films into this full-length feature. It was shot on an estimated budget of €2 million late last year. This premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and Fantastic Fest and was picked up by Oscilloscope Pictures for its US release. Rare Exports arrives in New York on December 3rd and hits LA on the 10th.

The previous trailer made this much more interesting. Now it's just a cheese-ball. Hopefully the actual movie can make a dent in our puerile visions of Santa. Can he, and those who seek him, be complex characters? Maybe. I'm also of the opinion that total surprise can't make a bad film good, or that spoilers will make a good film bad. There are very few times I think spoilers matter. So Alex, "spoil" it. Please.

Saw this last month in a special screening. Its pretty funny and entertaining, the dialogue is really funny (but im not sure if it will be as funny for the English speaking people wwith subtitles). The story was kinda interesting! Its very weird, but they do make sense of it in my opinion in the movie! Its meant to be just an entertaining movie for the holiday season for the 16-30yr old crowd. Love to see movies like this coming from Finland.

I just love the scene of Part 2 on the short films, where the santa jumps out of the box after cursing. Perkele!!!
