FILM FESTIVALS
Watch Ryan Reynolds' 'Buried' While Buried at Fantastic Fest
by Alex Billington

The Alamo Drafthouse's Fantastic Fest is gearing up for a hell of a badass festival this September and that includes making a big announcement today of 16 more movies that are part of the line-up (including Stone, Drones, The Housemaid, Ong Bak 3 and Redline). Another film that was recently added as a Gala Screening is Rodrigo Cortés' Buried, starring Ryan Reynolds, which I'm sure everyone knows by now is that buried alive flick that places entirely inside a coffin. To tease that even, they're also hosting a "Rolling Roadshow of One" where four lucky (or maybe unlucky?) fans will be chosen to watch Buried while buried underground.
I'm not sure exactly how it will all work, but if you're in/around Austin, TX and you don't mind being buried alive for the 90-minute duration of a movie, then you can sign-up on Facebook to be randomly chosen. As they explain there: "By RSVPing below, you are indicating your willingness to watch the entire film buried beneath the surface… Those who survive the screening are invited to walk the red carpet and attend the Fantastic Fest premiere on September 23rd at the historic Paramount Theatre with star Ryan Reynolds and director Rodrigo Cortés in attendance." That's actually pretty awesome and I can't wait to see the setup. They should've made this a spectator event, too! I'm sure it'd be fun to watch these people get buried, right?
I'll definitely be attending Fantastic Fest this year as it's one of my favorite festivals and the perfect way to wrap up a long trip to Telluride and Toronto beforehand. Buried is one of my favorite films of the year and I'm so happy to see it showing at both Toronto and Fantastic Fest. Alamo Drafthouse's Tim League stated, "Buried is the most unique and compelling thriller I have seen in years. The festival is honored to screen what we feel is going to be the 'buzz' film of the season." I definitely agree that it will be a buzz film and I hope everyone has the opportunity to watch it. We'll continue to keep you guys updated on Fantastic Fest.

I hope you'll check out Ong Bak 3, Alex...I've watched all three movies. All three are connected by the Ong Bak statue.

I read Buried and absolutely loved imagining it in my mind just like I did with Stephen King's Gerald's Game. However, I don't see the point of ruining that imagination by seeing it on screen through someone else’s eyes. Well, at least Gerald's Game hasn’t been ruined in a movie. ...Yet.
