Watch: Fun New Introductory Teaser Trailer for Pixar's Cars 2!

They're back! Pixar has debuted the first teaser trailer (on YouTube) for their newest sequel Cars 2. This is one of those teasers that should've played in front of Toy Story 3, like when they used to tease their next movie before their latest movie. The reason there are lasers (besides that Mission: Impossible IV is also out next year) is that the story in this sequel involves Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) and Mater (Larry The Cable Guy) meeting up with another car named Finn McMissile, a British spy, during their journey around the world for the Race of Champions. Empire has more concept art. Here comes the Cars backlash, I'm sure.

It was revealed last year that Cars 2 will see Lightning McQueen, his pit team and pit boss Mater, heading around the world for the Race of Champions taking place in five different countries with champions from different disciplines like Formula One and rally driving. Apparently "Mater gets involved in a 'Hitchcockian' case of mistaken identity, saves the life of a British secret agent called Finn McMissile (who looks a lot like an Aston Martin) and becomes embroiled in a huge spy thriller. Only no-one believes him. That too comes to a head at Buckingham Palace." Former Pixar producer Brad Lewis is making his directorial debut on Cars 2.
Disney is bringing Cars 2, also co-directed by John Lasseter, to theaters in 3D on June 24th next summer.

I've seen the first one a million times thanks to my son... not sure where the blacklash would come from... it's a fantastic movie, and by far the one I look forward to a sequel the most of any pixar film.

Lol, I think the backlash comes from the folks who thought Cars was the weakest link in the chain of Pixar's successful movies. And, for the most part, it was. But this still looks wonderful. And Cars will always be hugely greater than most animated features that come out.

This looks good, but I think The Incredibles could use a great sequel more so than other Pixar films. Though, I do think we are getting a little bit saturated with all this hero stuff...

Cars really is the worst Pixar film, which doesn't mean it's bad. Actually it's quite good. And of course I'll go see its sequel.

LOL, oh wow. cars is a good movie i think. its not on par with the other pixar films, but hey, what can you do tho. and yes, thanks to my son, i seen cars a million times. 4 times actually this morning. LOL.

You know, I thought Cars was pretty decent, but I'm just not excited in the least for this movie in the least. It's going to take a pretty great trailer to change my mind.

bleh, another sequel. pixar lost its balls when it sold out to disney. all of their upcoming movies are sequels, nothing new. god forbid they actually have fresh ideas. must make profit!

Fun? FUN?! I personally thought cars was a breathtaking and beautifully LOOKING movie with one of the worst executions in story I'd seen in a long time. It's world got old so fast, and the idea of turning these characters into spies? Yeah I won't be seeing it on the big-screen. Why not Incredibles 2? WHY?

i would've rather seen Newt than this... and after Wall-E and it's environmental message Pixar is kinda exhibiting bi-polar disorder. are we going to see an electric car or a gas powered car in this movie?

@12 I hear ya, when they showed how it used to be and played that song. "sniff". Only those without a heart wouldn't have had atleast one tear on the verge of falling. Loved cars and I bet this will be good too. I'll be seeing it.

I agree with #16. Cars was a good film, but definitely Pixar's weakest. And everyone knows that sequels are nothing compared to the originals. So that being said, I'm pretty disappointed. I was rather excited for Newt too..

I love cars and I will definitely go see it. @17- thank you, couldn't have said it better! @28 - I just read Monster's Inc 2 should hit theaters Nov. 12, 2012. I can't wait for that one too!

Ah that's cool. I really hope for incredibles too. I really don't think cars needs a 2nd one. I think it will be wasting money. But I will see it and if it's good then my out look on it will change 😀
