Watch: 'The Nutcracker 3D' Official Trailer with Elle Fanning

I'm not really sure where this came from, but Awards Daily found a new official trailer for The Nutcracker 3D, Andrei Konchalovsky's spectacular take on the classic Christmas story starring the likes of Elle Fanning, John Turturro, Nathan Lane and Charlie Rowe. This looks incredibly fantastical and very stylized, almost to the point where it might not be good, but I think it could be fun to watch. To be honest, this reminds me of Hook, with Konchalovsky twisting the classic Nutcracker story into his own wild vision. Check out all those crazy steampunk machines the Rat King has, what a crazy idea. Anyway, check out the official trailer below!
Watch the official trailer for Andrei Konchalovsky's The Nutcracker 3D:
The Nutcracker 3D follows nine-year-old Mary (Fanning) whose dull Viennese Christmas is suddenly filled with excitement and adventure following the arrival of Uncle Albert and a gift of an enchanted nutcracker.
The Nutcracker 3D is directed by acclaimed Russian filmmaker Andrei Konchalovsky, of films like Runaway Train, Maria's Lovers, Tango & Cash and Duet for One previously. The script was written by Konchalovsky and Chris Solimine (of Moscow Chill) and was inspired by Tchaikovsky's ballet which was originally adapted from E.T.A. Hoffmann's fairytale "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King." Freestyle Releasing will be bringing The Nutcracker 3D to theaters, in 3D obviously, starting November 24th this holiday season. Interested?

surprisingly - this doesn't look too bad for a holiday movie.......and i always enjoy lane and turturros work.- i won't see it in a theatre due to my hatred of all things 3D........but i'll put it on my netflix queue.

Interesting although fanning seems a little bland.

#5 - if possible i will. the title was *nutcracker 3D* and i wasn't sure if it was 3D only or not. i never know about my local theatres. sometimes we have to go to the city to see some indie movies because they never make it to my town. but, yea - if it's also 2D, i'm sure we'll be seeing this at the theatre.

Is Nathan Lane suppose to be Uncle Albert Einstein? "Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one." -Albert Einstein

hmm I was excited at the beginning, think that this might be an almost sci-fi-esque take on the Nutcracker (and with that and Nathan Lane as the crazy uncle, I would've been interested)...but then it turned to more kiddie fare. Too bad.

I always thought The Nutcracker could make a great movie, but this isn't what I had in mind. Looks terrible.

I heard the score was 10-0 to the Dodgers. Kid acting is terrible. Only kidding, I cried so much watching this I gave birth to teardrops the size of small elephants, it was beautiful.

.... I fear they have just bitchered my favourite Christmas story. I thought they could have done an amazing job, but the SciFi worries me greatly, so I'm not so sure anymore.

All the epic CG is tiresome. And what's with the character name "N.C"? Are they afraid to say the title name in front of children?

@ 18-yes all the CG is played out I loved it when the rat guy snarled or whatever, almost reminded me of older movies where they had no computer graphics and had to really master the way they used makeup. Movie looks like it could be quite good

I might watch it only because Elle Fanning is in it, but it doesn't look good..

Well, all I can say is that there is another Fanning in the movie business, that's all!

I am in....just wish it was not in 3-D. Tchaikovsky's score is in no way terrible.

It's rare that I say this....but this looks awful. And I actually want to like it! I just can't. It looks too contrived. Right down to the cheesy preview that plays off of every single trailer cliche' one can possibly imagine. They even have the cliche' Arnold action flick "look ooouutt!" at the end of the trailer for dramatic effect. Horrible trailer. I can say that for certain. Perhaps the movie will have enough whimsy to salvage itself, but as of right now this looks like a disaster.

i think the movie looks good.and it may do well in the box office.to see a old story and christmas classic brought back to big screen with a better story added may knock the old classic story out of the ball park.who knows this new version done in 3d.will become a classic.

real 3d is great for movies.it makes the movies more enjoyable.and it makes them a little more immersive.i do admit though 3d can be improved.maybe it will in the near future.3d without the use of glasses that to me would be improving 3d. no more use of paper or plastic glasses to wear.

Sunday, November 14, 2010 ... How bad is The Nutcracker in 3D? Instead of handing out 3D glasses, they should be handing out bedpans at the entrance to the theatre. ... don't spend a cent of your hard-earned money on the tsunami of fecal waste that is Andre Konchalovsky's The Nutcracker in 3D. ... http://www.myculturallandscape.blogspot.com/ -See More
