Earlier this week our friends at Quiet Earth debuted a new trailer for a coming-of-age indie drama called Skateland that I actually saw at Sundance last January. At the time I wasn't sure how much I liked it, as but as time goes on and I think back to the film, the more I admire it. Skateland is set in the 80's and stars the irresistible Ashley Greene as well as A.J. Buckley and Shiloh Fernandez as a couple of teens living at the height of their youth (centered around a skating rink) until one of their friends is killed. It's got a truly rockin' soundtrack and beautiful classic style and is all-around just a great film. Watch the trailer below!
Watch an early promo trailer for Anthony Burns' Skateland, embedded from YouTube:
In the early 1980s, in small-town Texas, dramatic events force a 19-year-old skating rink manager to look at his life in a very new way. This also stars Finch Nissen, Haley Ramm, James LeGros and Brett Cullen.
Skateland is directed by first-time feature filmmaker Anthony Burns, who attended Southwest Texas State University, and co-wrote the screenplay with brothers Brandon and Heath Freeman, who also co-produced the film. This first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and played at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin last March. We're not sure who the US distributor is (or if it even has one yet) as there is no release date set for this. We'll keep you updated on any eventual release plans. Anyone interested?

Prediction: Will be similar to Adventureland. As well as there will be a scene where he skates alone.

@Xerxex... I don't think your positive outweighs the first three negatives.

Come on#2, you can always say that. I liked "Dazed and Confused" when it was called "American Graffitti".

It should be called Suckland. There isn't even any '80s hair. And why am I supposed to care about all these loser peter pans trying to figure out their path while their impossibly hot girlfriends just wait around all moon-eyed. The narcissists that make these crappy coming of age indies make me want to barf all over their hipster nerd glasses.
