Watch This: Badass Early Hobo With a Shotgun Footage Hits!
"As promised, here’s a little something to get your juices flowing." Although it was only announced six days ago that Rutger Hauer would star in the feature version of Jason Eisener's Hobo With a Shotgun, and although they've only been shooting for about a week, a short video featuring a smattering of badass footage and our very first look at Hauer as the Hobo has hit the web. This is official, as it comes from the Hobo With a Shotgun blog at hobowithashotgun.com (via our friends from HeyUGuys.co.uk) where their crew has been tracking some of the shooting so far. Apparently they've already run out of (fake) blood only three days in!
Watch the first promo footage from Jason Eisener's Hobo With a Shotgun:
The production quality on this looks fantastic so far, I'm glad Eisener got the financing and money they need to make this as their first feature film. As a reminder, Hobo With a Shotgun is based on a "fake" trailer that Eisener and his Halifax, Nova Scotia-based crew made for a Grindhouse contest during the release of Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino's double feature. The trailer won the top prize and was included as part of the three-hour film in Canada (but not in the US). I don't think I really need to explain the plot (it's about a hobo with a shotgun, damnit!) but this is being directed and was written by Eisener. It's an indie, so expect it to hit some film festivals first (probably Fantastic Fest?) before arriving in art house theaters. Thoughts?

The soundtrack and the film are straight from the early 80's, I could imagine watching that trailer as a 10 year old and going to the video shop to get it. I'd never watch this in a cinema, what would make it better would be having to adjust the tracking during viewing.

I am tired of this "it's so extreme it doesn't have rules!" style of film. Grindhouse, whatever. It may look cool, but I wish people would focus their efforts on something better. Rutger Hauer is the bomb, though.

I'm not so much into gory movies. No thanks.

I never thought they'd make Hobo before Machete or Thanksgiving. Still pumped though.

Though I love Hauer, I'm not too excited for this.

meh............i don't see why there would be any excitement for this - it looks like a bad "straight to dvd" movie shown on TMC, showtime, or SYFY. and alex, what " fantastic production quality" are you talking about? it looks like something a college kid majoring in film would make...........i know they've only been shooting for a week - but this just looks amatuerish to me. and for anyone wondering - i'm not above watching overly violent or bizarre movies. i just watched an early showing of " the human centipede" and found it over-the-top good (based mainly on D. lasers portrayal of the doctor and the very idea of a human centipede - Six had guts to come up with it). from this early teaser - nothing in "hobo" stands out to me.

The original fake trailer got me all excited, but this just lowered my expectations.

This is clearly behind the scenes stuff shot on a DSLR camera. The final product is probably going to have a lot better quality, this is probably something they pushed out to capitalize on the interest of the announcement.
