Okay, for a Disney family movie, you've gotta admit that The Sorcerer's Apprentice looks pretty frickin' badass. Disney has just debuted a fun behind-the-scenes featurette called "Good vs Evil" that has plenty of new footage, interviews with Nic Cage, Jay Baruchel, Alfred Molina, Jon Turteltaub and Jerry Bruckheimer, and much more. It looks like the effects are getting closer to finished and we finally get to see a lot more cool stuff, since up until now they've only really shown a few scenes, even in the trailers. Anyway, check this out and put The Sorcerer's Apprentice down as one movie you definitely need to see this summer. Watch below.
Watch the "Behind the Scenes: Good vs Evil" video for The Sorcerer's Apprentice from YouTube:
A sorcerer (Nicolas Cage) leaves his workshop in the hands of his apprentice (Jay Baruchel), who gets into trouble when the broomstick he put a spell on to do chores for him somehow develops a mind of its own.
The Sorcerer's Apprentice is directed by veteran filmmaker Jon Turteltaub, who also directed 3 Ninjas, Cool Runnings, The Kid and both National Treasure movies previously. The screenplay was co-written by Carlo Bernard (The Uninvited) and Matt Lopez (Bedtime Stories). This is based on the story that first appeared in Disney's Fantasia in 1940. The Sorcerer's Apprentice hits theaters everywhere on July 16th this summer.

I will not admit that this movie looks "pretty freakin badass," .... because it looks like crap. Every SINGLE time I've seen this trailer in theaters, the audience has burst into laughter at how stupid it is..... especially whenever Cage starts talking. This movie just looks awful.

I think this will be entertaining. No one is looking for an epic, meaningful, oscar worthy performance here. I'll have a couple chuckles, see a few cool special effects, and wish I knew some magic. Then, sadly, the movie will be over, and I'll remember that on Monday I need to return to my grey upholstered cube of hell where my only reprieve is fitting in some web surfing while my boss inflates her ego during one of her "important" meetings. Take it for what it is people. Escapism.

Lol I prefer to escape to something worth watching. Maybe I just don't like Jay Baruchel. He's so incredibly not convincing. I liked him in Knocked Up.... but that was it. He's just so fake.... and idk... it takes me out of the movie. Same thing happened in How to Train Your Dragon. His voice is just... gaaah!!! hahaha. You can just tell he's acting....... and that isn't good. Lol whatever. I just don't wanna see this movie. Nothing against anyone, but I'm very surprised that everyone is excited for this. It honestly just looks like junk to me. We all have our opinions. Yay!!! 😀

I really don't like Jay Baruchel either, although How To Train Your Dragon was the one thing I didn't mind him in. Nicolas Cage is alright sometimes, but I don't think this is one of those times for me. For those who can stand these actors, this should be fun, though.

This movie looks like a good family movie. Better than stuff like Alvin and the Chipmunks for sure.

Cage was great in "The Bad lieutenant Port of Call: New Orleans" Baruchel was pretty good in "She's out of my League" as for this I'll see it and will probably enjoy it. ChazzyO too bad you can't see the fun in this. I hope Baruchel surprises you one day.

This looks like a fun break from the world. I'll see it when I am having a crappy week at work. I agree with Xerxes. I'll probably enjoy it.

Gezz, I just don't get it ...Disney axe Legend of the seeker, and then release something like this?? I just don't get it :/ .... I give up. I boycott all Disney movies, and this won't be hard, cuz I dislike N. Cage and that Jay dude is just plain annoying. Next!

I think it looks fun. And remember, it's for the kids, so shut the mouth.

Remember, if you're an adult you aren't the target market. And if people burst out laughing at this trailer, that's a GOOD thing -- if you don't think so, you're misunderstanding its intent. I'd say it looks like it could be fun on the same level as the "Exploits of Ebenizium" books -- or Big Trouble In Little China, or the Charlie's Angels flick, if you prefer movie references. It's a light romp through the tropes, parody with just enough story to motivate the action. I'll probably go see it ... when it hits the second-run theater in my own neighborhood, or when I can go with a bunch of friends so we can all laugh both with and at it together.

It may be fun, escapist entertainment, but is that worth spending your money on? Is anyone going to remember or care about this film even a year after it's release? This will be a forgettable money-grabber.
