Watch: Dax Shepard Gets Adulterous in 'The Freebie' Trailer
Does it still count as adultery if two married people agree to let each other sleep with someone else? That is the essential question that makes up this movie. The Freebie stars Dax Shepard and Katie Aselton and is produced by Mark Duplass, who just so happens to be married to Katie. It's another one of those improv'd mumblecore comedies about a couple who decide, for one night only, that it's okay to let each other have a one night stand. I've heard some great buzz about it from others at Sundance and it looks quite good, so I'm definitely going to check it out. The first official trailer for The Freebie has arrived online, so watch below.

The Freebie is written and directed by first-time feature filmmaker Katie Aselton, who also stars in the film as Annie. Mark Duplass, one half of the filmmaking team known as the Duplass Brothers (The Puffy Chair, Baghead, Cyrus), executive produced the film, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. Phase 4 Films will be bringing The Freebie to very limited theaters (starting in New York City only) on September 17th this fall. If you want to see this, let Phase 4 know that you want to! Is anyone interested?

It looked lackluster to me. Maybe that's why they had the critics word playing throughout. Dax is such a coold dude though. Katie Aselton is kinda cute. This certainly isn't a film anyone needs right now especially with the divorce rate being so high.

I'm in. Shepard and Aselton seem great in this! Also Shepard is doing pretty well right now I mean he's engaged to Kristen Bell.

i think the real question of this movie is: "is a couple a REAL couple if they even discuss allowing each other to have a one-night-stand with someone else". watching the trailer, i NEVER found these 2 actors to be effectively portraying a real couple.............the subject matter is interesting - but the execution/acting seems sloppy. i'm interested in the topic of the movie - for that reason it may be a "one-watch" rental..........but nothing more.

Hmmm...a movie about two people who never should have gotten married. Pass.

Yeah, the writing felt pretty flat.

#5-That's because it's mumblecore. Most of it's improv. It's supposed to seem more natural but instead just sounds like two actors thinking about what to say while they're talking.

Now, if she chose, for her "freebie," to do the New York Nets, and if he chose, for his "freebie," to do a transvestite exotic dancer who is receiving hormone treatments...naw, it still wouldn't look that good.

I can probably figure how the direction this movie will take... still pretty interesting. Dax has gone a long way from PUNKED!

As a happily married women in an open relationship, I like when movies explore this topic. Don't be haters just because of the subject matter. It is more common and successful than you think.
