Watch This: Disney's New Prince of Persia Superbowl TV Spot

"The gods have a plan for you." The only other TV spot that aired during the Superbowl that wasn't already online before was for Disney's Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. I know everyone isn't too keen on this movie, but I'm still very excited for it, I don't know why. I loved the video game and I don't have any complaints about this (no, I don't care about Jake Gyllenhaal playing the "Persian"). And I love the reversal halfway into this TV spot. I think that may be a hint that we're going to see some big time reversal moments in this movie and I can't wait to see that. Anyway, I've said enough, check out the new Superbowl TV spot!

Follows a prince who must stop an angry ruler from unleashing a sandstorm that could destroy the world.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is directed by English director Mike Newell, of Donnie Brasco, Pushing Tin, Mona Lisa Smile, and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire previously. The screenplay was co-written by Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard (The Uninvited, The Sorcerer's Apprentice) and the story was developed by Jordan Mechner, one of the original creators of the video game. Disney will be bringing Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time to theaters everywhere starting on May 28th, 2010 this summer. Will you be seeing it?

the main character of the prince of persia is not persian. he is a foreigner who travelled to persia. the persian princess then took an interest in him but the evil jaffar wanted her. As the jaffar was ruling in the sultans place (he was away) he locked up the nameless foreigner and told the princess she had an hour to decide to marry him or die. The foreigner escaped, killed the jaffar and rescued the princess. The only reward for his actions that he wanted was to take the princess' hand in marrige to which the sultan agreed to (when he got back). Thus he became the Prince of Persia i got no problem with the prince being a white guy as if you play the 1989 prince of persia, its obviously a pixelated white dude. The movie is based far more on the rebooted Ubisoft created games. Overall i will probably see this just not at the theatre. It all looks a bit too much like a cookie cutter summer movie. I do hope to be suprised though but as with most movies today, lower expecations going in are better than thinking something is gonna be good

that is quite a convincing english accent from jake. well it would be if we spoke like that. looks quite good. it'll probably a movie that i'll see if there is nothing else to see. As long as it is entertaining, i don't mind.

looks pretty good, nothing amazing, it will be a good summer flick in the same vein as Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Gyllenhaal's english accent seems pretty good so far.

The film looks great. I say this as a big, big fan of the games. Anyone who expected something different is kidding themselves. This looks like exactly the kind of throwback swashbuckler that inspired the games to begin with. And reportedly, Jordan Mechner (creator of Prince of Persia) himself loves the way the film turned out, and Jake in the part (he was hands-on with the script and other aspects for many years before the film finally made it into production). I really hope it's a success so we can move on to some of the concepts Warrior Within and Two Thrones introduced (the second and third games), like the Dahaka and Dark Prince. Some very cinematic stuff. :]

So where is the Super Bowl spot I saw for The Last Airbender? I saw it yesterday during the game, but have not seen it anywhere on this site. I would like to see that one again. I've seen lots already for The Prince of Persia and Alice in Wonderland. All we had seen before for Airbender was the short teaser of the main character with the candles before moving out and seeing all the ships. We FINALLY see something more yesterday so I assumed it would be here on First Showing. So where is it?

Jake Gyllenhaal's Jewish (although this father's Swedish nobility) so he is partially of Middle-Eastern descent so playing a Persian isn't that badly cast.

I'm planning to buy the new prince of persia for PC. Now, I was wondering how many fights (or duels) the game has. I'm buying it anyway, but I read somewhere that there are only a dozen.

I played prince of persia all sequels. I liked it much and to me 'sands of time' was the best among them. I don't care what others are telling about this movie, but i am gonna watch it. I hope it will be a blockbuster hit this year.

Like most of the ads that were shown during the game, movie related or otherwise, Prince of Persia was a let down. lol

I would have to say that the movie was great, Jake did a good job in portraying this role. He's really a good actor.
