Watch This: First Trailer for Jay Roach's Dinner for Schmucks

Paramount has finally debuted the first trailer for Austin Power director Jay Roach's new comedy Dinner for Schmucks which stars Steve Carell and Paul Rudd. They're also joined by a great supporting cast including Jemaine Clement, Zach Galifianakis, Bruce Greenwood, Ron Livingston and Lucy Punch. I first titled this "must watch" but after actually watching the trailer, I decided otherwise, simply because there's not much that makes me laugh nowadays and this definitely falls into that category. Why is Steve Carell the absolute dumbest idiot around? I didn't laugh once at this, sadly, because it actually had some potential.

Tim is a rising executive who finds the perfect guest, IRS employee Barry, for his boss's monthly event, a so-called "dinner for idiots," which offers advantages to the exec who shows up with the biggest buffoon.
Dinner for Schmucks is directed by Jay Roach, of all three Austin Powers movies as well as Mystery Alaska, Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers. The script was written by a lot of writers, including Andy Borowitz, Ken Daurio, David Guion, Michael Handelman, Cinco Paul, Francis Veber and Jon Vitti. Too many cooks in the kitchen, possibly? Paramount is bringing Dinner for Schmucks to theaters on July 23rd this summer.

it might have been funny if they showed Jemaine Clement in the trailer...

Zach is not going to be funny just cause he was uber-funny in The Hangover....this looks not pretty but extremely lame.

Paul Rudd sold it, Steve Carrell made it awesome, and Zach Galifianakis and, I imagine, Jermaine will send it over the top. looks great!

This looks a lot like a remake of a French film called "Le dîner de cons." http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119038/

I love Paul Rudd. Steve is just playing Michael Scott with a bad haircut, but i like it. And overall the cast is great. I didn't LOL'ed, but i smiled during the trailer, particularly at the "imagine" joke and the "i can't move part". Looks fun, i'm in.

I like Paul Rudd a lot too, but this looks completely awful.

I could deal without the girlfriend being on his case. Paul Rudd is funny as hell, so I'm in.

Really? Some guy quoting a shitty movie was funnier than the trailer for a comedy that shows at least a little bit of potential?

Yes, this is really a remake of "Le Dinner de cons". Next time, just do research 😉

Le dîner de cons looks 10x better than this ever was. But that could also be because I saw that movie knowing nothing of the premise at all and really enjoyed it.

Paul Rudd AND Steve Carell? Yes please.

Steve should stick with the office. Rudd and Zach have that dry sense of humor that Iove. I saw Zack on conan a long time ago and then seen him off campus in a club and I've always liked him and as an actor even better. I would definitely see this. Go to the theater or rent it? Not sure yet I think I'll wait for it to come out then decide.

Zach Galifinakis is one of the funniest comedians of our time. His stand up is nothing short of amazing. That being said... this movie looks mediocre.

"because there's not much that makes me laugh nowadays" ... I think that's more of a personal problem than a movie problem. The Jay Roach thing has me nervous but MAN I loves me some Paul Rudd, best reactions in hte business.

I think the Schmucks won't be the ones at the dinner, but rather the unfortunate bastards in the theater watching. If you want to see Steve Carrell make a schmuck out of himself, you can do that for free every Thursday night. #8, "I didn't LOL'ed" violates the English language and the written word in just about every way possible. Nicely done.

Alright the cast looks amazing. I generally love all of those actors. But not gonna lie, I didn't laugh once in this preview. I'll definitely give it a shot, but not full price.
