Watch This: Full-Length Trailer for Gunless with Paul Gross
by Alex Billington
March 1, 2010
Back in January we featured a trailer for a Canadian western spoof called Gunless starring Eastwick actor Paul Gross, Sienna Guillory, Dustin Milligan, and Callum Keith Rennie. FS.net reader Randol sent us an email last night linking to a new full-length theatrical trailer for Gunless on YouTube. It looks exactly like I expected it would, but boy does it look fun. I feel like these Canadians pulled off a great little indie western comedy and I can't wait to see this. I don't expect everyone to be into it as well, but I just think it looks like an entertaining movie. Unfortunately I'm not sure when it's coming to the US. Check out the trailer below!
Watch the theatrical trailer for William Phillips' Gunless:
For more information, visit the official website for the film: gunless.ca.
A hardened American gunslinger is thwarted in his attempts to mount a showdown in a friendly town up in Canada where no one seems to understand or appreciate the brutal code of the American Wild West.
Gunless is written and directed by Canadian filmmaker William Phillips, of the feature films Treed Murray and Foolproof previously. This was shot last year in and around British Columbia. Alliance Films is bringing it to Canadian theaters in March, but it doesn't have a US distributor yet, so we're not exactly sure when it'll makes it way down to the US. That April 30th date you saw in the trailer was only for its Canadian release.
Wow, I bet even Sarah Palin would say that looks retarded. Its horrible and stupid (think Jim Carey in a drama), it should have an April Fools Day release...meaning its never to be released.

Looks pretty crap. Leoben looks cool in it though.

#1- you're trying too hard. But this is god awful. I can't stand those Canadians with there beady eyes and flapping heads.

I dislike modern humor in a period piece and this is a great example of why.

I like Paul Gross and I grew up watching Due South which was popular here in the UK so I can appreciate his comedic talents. However the problem I have is that he has a day time soap actor/tv movie look about him. I saw his Paschendale film recently which was surprisingly disappointing. It was cliche ridden, mawkish and was badly acted so I won't be rushing to watch this.

with all this hating against this movie, i can say i am excited to see this

How in God's name could FirstShowing tell me to watch this? Disgusting.
Why Did Eastwick Get Cancelled!? on Mar 1, 2010

DoomCanoe on Mar 1, 2010
I didn't laugh once during that trailer. Are we sure this is supposed to be a comedy?

I am with you Alex. I saw Gross in Men with Brooms and he was great, and I own Foolproof on dvd that is classic, too bad more peopel cant learn about it because it isn't even on imdb. Which is strange because it has Ryan Reynolds in it too.

These reactions are weird. I thought it looked really funny, and well acted.

@ #1 Jim Carrey in Drama worked out see The Truman Show, or The Man in the Moon, or Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I'm with DoomCanoe I'll check it out later.
Xerxex on Mar 1, 2010
@#4 It worked for Maverick with Mel Gibson, but this... while it doesn't look so terrible that it's embarrassing, it still certainly looks unfunny.

I might check this out if only to support Canadian cinema, but Paul Gross seems to be the only Canadian that can get financing to make a movie up here, Men with Brooms had its moments, I havn't seen paschendale, but I havn't heard good things. a non Paul Gross movie you guys should check out is Bon Cop/Bad Cop, although if you don't know a little bit about the Quebec Nordiques and about english/french interactioons you might not find it as funny as Canadians did. I'm waiting for a Canadian movie about the Canadian contributions to WWI and WWII, anot not some lame love story like Paschendale, I want a movie about Vimy Ridge!

@ #12 I don't get these reactions, either. Sure, it won't be the greatest movie of all time, but it sure looks funny to me. The wry cowboy humor reminds me of Firefly.

This looks really funny. 🙂

i'm with # 18.........this looks really funny. what's with all the hate? i would like to know what all of you haters think is funny?

Some people think the world would be better if we all laughed at the same exact things, often failing to understand how different brands of comedy can even exist. I usually refer to such people as "morons". That said, bad narration choice I'd say, but the movie looks pretty fun to me.

Hey, glad to see you put it up! I am a huge fan of westerns and love the comedic blend that Blazing Saddles and Rustlers' Rhapsody had. I think that this will be an underrated little comedy/western. The teaser and full length trailer had me laughing pretty good.

I actually think this looks good...amusing, if nothing else. A quirky little western comedy beats any of the repetitious Michael Cena comedies any day.

Not one record scratch? Wow, trailer people falling down on their jobs. "Where am I?" *RECORD SCRATCH* "The dominion of Canada." At least they got the right voice over guy.

^^ Learn English, aiite? This looks passable. You wanna see a bad western, watch Bounty. You people have no idea what a 'bad' movie is.
Squiggly_P on Mar 1, 2010
@2. I wonder how many other people knew who you were talking about. XD And I agree.
Lar on Mar 1, 2010
I couldn't get over Paul Gross' unintentional "Canadian version" of Christian Bale's "batman voice". I'd love to see a remix of the Dark Knight Trailer with this one!
Akirakorn on Mar 2, 2010
I'm not a fan of ANY western. tortured from childhood with maverick and ponderosa until my late teens with whatever what on even that silly Support your local gunfighter. BUT this actually looks like i might like it. A serious comedic western. who'd thunk.
Sylvia Hubbard on Mar 3, 2010
This movie isn't worth the celluloid it's captured on (from what I've heard). I live in Toronto and I know some of the people that worked on this movie that saw a screener (I believe that's a copy of the movie that is not finished). They said it was horrible. I asked them if there was anything good in it..their response was "When it ended". Too bad...Paul Gross is so cute.

@harvs: re "However the problem I have is that he has a day time soap actor/tv movie look about him". You absolutely nailed it. This really does look ordinary.
gege on Mar 14, 2010
Really? Alliance had the trailer pulled from youtube? Well they can take their crappy Canadian move and shove it.
