The Divide Teaser Trailer

Content Film has launched an early teaser trailer, that will only show for 24 hours, on the official website for French director Xavier Gens' new film The Divide. The cast was just announced a few weeks ago and it only started shooting last week, but they had enough finished footage to whip up this badass preview. The Divide stars Michael Biehn, Milo Ventimiglia, Lauren German, Rosanna Arquette and Michael Eklund. The sci-fi thriller is about eight strangers who take refuge in a makeshift fallout shelter in the basement of their apartment after a cataclysmic explosion devastates New York City. You'll definitely want to check this out!

Watch the first early teaser trailer for Xavier Gens' The Divide:

The Divide was originally titled The Fallout and has been shooting in Canada for a little over a week. As you might've been able to see in the teaser, after gathering in the shelter, they're suddenly attacked by men in Hazmat suits until they shove them out and lock the doors, but then paranoia sets in as their sanctuary becomes a living hell. "With twists and turns throughout, and no way of knowing who will make it out alive, The Divide is an action packed psychological thriller that combines Assault on Precinct 13 with Lord of the Flies." Gens last directed video game movie Hitman and the crazy horror film Frontier(s) before that. This looks like it will be pretty frickin' awesome. No release date is set yet and it doesn't have a US distributor.

obviously not the same story but same type of setting as REC

nelson on May 21, 2010

I thought Hitman was crap but Frontier(s) was mothalovin crazy! The Divide looks like he is getting back to the good stuff from Frontier(s). I'm excited.

PJ on May 21, 2010

My sentiment is the same has No1, this is a lot like REC.

Cineprog on May 21, 2010

I hate it when the world is coming to the end, people are fighting for survival and should all be at least bruised and dirty, but then a babe walks into a frame all washed up and made up. Can't stand this anymore.

Bo on May 21, 2010

How does this look like REC at all? You mean because it's in the same apartment building or something? But it has no creepy zombie girl, it's about 8 people trying to survive the apocalypse in a fallout shelter... That has NOTHING to do with REC!

Alex Billington on May 21, 2010

rec? in what way? no. this is like the the original night of the living dead. the fear wasnt of the zombies, but of the those sitting next to you. looks interesting. as long as this doesnt turn into some I Am Legend crapfest, and they all decide to go outside, it should be fine.

Edward on May 21, 2010

rec? that is NOTHING like rec. i liked the teaser...........but, like #6 says - i hope it doesn't turn into an "i am legend" crapfest. and i'm just asking - was that a robot with a gun at the end?

beavis on May 21, 2010

just the apartment reminds me of rec/quarantine,other than that, this seems pretty awesome.

erik Keating on May 21, 2010

Not the worlds biggest Hitman fan, but really liked Frontier(s). The sound design (Bells + foghorns) creates such an intense feeling for the film. The opening of the trailer where the sound is kind of muted was awesome and then as they leave the bathroom the screams just jump into the mix, i can only imagine seeing this film in surround sound is going to be amazing. The camera flying down the center of the stairs as the building crumbles was a nice touch, a little bit of that style that was ever so present in the directors other films.

Shaun on May 21, 2010

Reminds me of Blindness, a movie with blind ppl locked up in some sort of hospital and divided into two groups, trying to survive.

malax on May 21, 2010

dude was that the kid from "The Forbidden Kingdom"? This looks nothing like [Rec].

Xerxex on May 21, 2010

Yeah, this looks like [Rec], The Killing Room, The Cube, The Thing or any other film where people are locked in a room, building or situation. I really feel sorry for people who constantly say one film looks like another, because they must hate 90% of movies.

Shaun on May 21, 2010

I like. I'm always up for an Apocolypse / Zombie / Asteroid / Monkey / Viral movie. I can't get enough of 'em. I'll have to check out Frontier(s) now. Never seen it.

Hedgehog on May 21, 2010

I think that was Peter Petrelli in the group that got locked out.

GET TO DA CHOPPAAAAAA! on May 21, 2010

Somewhere there is the mention of "The lord of the flies", that was some disturbing sh*t! The whole concept brings me memories of "28 days later". The original setup was a zombie apocalypsis, but then the twist was the raping attempt of those soldiers. This is another apocalyptic thing with the whole psychological twist within... cool!

leinergroove on May 21, 2010

@ 14: He was actually locked IN. He's one of the people that flash at the end I believe. That's what I saw atleast.

Hedgehog on May 21, 2010

Looks pretty cool~ I love Michael Biehn. I'm definitely happy there won't be zombies

Antioch on May 21, 2010

like is this a zombie type movie...not zombies but people going crazy or something...not sold until i know what they are running from hiding from or something...most likely a nuclear bomb

Darren on May 21, 2010

nah its rec lol

lol on May 21, 2010

at what point in the teaser was there a zombie??????!!!!!!!!!!! AT WHAT POINT. PLEASE TELL ME. WHERE WAS THERE A ZOMBIE??????????????????? OR ANYTHING THAT EVEN REPRESENTS A ZOMBIE?

nighthawk352 on May 21, 2010

There is one shot in this trailer that looks like REC and this is what everyone is obsessing over? Come on, people. This is an awesome trailer! There are better things to discuss!

Alex on May 21, 2010

Are you covering the Cannes Film Festival or just your Cannes apartment? Get out and watch films!!

taptup on May 21, 2010

@ malax Blindness is a great movie, but I can't recommend it to folk because it's so messed up. I think the brutality of the people in the film is sadly quite a realistic portrayal of humna beings act in a time of extreme crisis. They don't help each other. What's with the Splinter cell guy at the end? Will watch, looks daft enough. End of the world blah, blah... will watch.

Crapola on May 21, 2010

I heard this is actually REC 3... morons.

ZzFDKzZ on May 21, 2010

When I saw "From the Director of Hitman" I almost x'ed out of the tab but I finished the trailer and I must say...this looks quite sick.

Jacob Crim on May 21, 2010

What the hell...this looks absolutely nothing like rec. No zombies and in Rec they were trapped in an apt building with demonic zombies. This is a room with the apocalypse outside trapped in a room with Sam Fisher(lol). But yeah some of the responses on here are some of the dumbest Ive ever read on this site.

Cody w on May 21, 2010

Looks lame. I'd rather watch [REC] 2

George's Clooney on May 21, 2010

at 1st i was like director of hitman hell no, but this actually looks interesting

8=D on May 21, 2010

GUess I missed it. Oh well, doesn't sound too thrilling. people trapped...o0o0o00o0o0o Morons...looks like REC in the sense of location. nothing more. Even I got though by reading, which is something you all should do it seems. "same type of setting as REC" Alex....I single you out since I haven't in so long. lol

tra la la la la di da on May 21, 2010

Pretty intense teaser. I haven't seen any of the director's previous work but this looks like something I might like to see.

Edward C. on May 21, 2010

#23 ZzFDKzZ You could be the dumbest person in the world

Goorgy on May 21, 2010

Think what he meant was that the apartment looks exactly like the apt from REC........

vizaviz on May 22, 2010

Y does the music sound like Inception....?

Bodi on May 22, 2010

coz it's actually Inception 2: WTF, We're still in a dream?  lol

Vincentmancini3 on Oct 6, 2011

DoomCanoe on May 22, 2010

My favorite part is where they steal the music from the Inception trailer. It looks nothing like REC, at all. Blindness was one of the scariest and most disturbing movies I have ever seen.

Brian Ricci on May 22, 2010

Fisherr on May 22, 2010

This movie is actually filming in my hometown and in an article in the paper today they mentioned they are on a 31-day shooting schedule. They are also shooting the film in chronological sequence which most of the actors really like. Also interesting to note that the set constructed is designed by Tony Noble whose credit include 'Moon'.

Dee on May 22, 2010

Nice inception music bros

SkyNet on May 22, 2010

#38 inception took it off Terminator Salvation ( and just not inception ) i am not sold by this trailer im starting to get a bit sick of these world ending movies now cause we have had so many recently like - The Happening, Book of Eligh, The Road, 2012 ect...

Jim Shannon on May 22, 2010

intresting, can't wait for a better trailer.

deadpool 72 on May 22, 2010

I wonder if Biehn is still pissed at James Cameron for not hiring him on Avatar?

Max on May 22, 2010

Really like they show a sneak peak like this. Those foghorns had me thinking War of the Worlds 🙂

David Banner on May 22, 2010

@malax because of your comment i watched Blindness for the first time. I adored the movie and have already started recommending it. After i heard it got slammed in the box office, by critics and hearing what the test audience said after the screening i can not believe people who honestly judge movies for a living would talk so low about a movie with so much emotion, story and character. 9.2/10 thanks for the recommendation

DoomCanoe on May 22, 2010

I gotta pipe in to say that I really liked Blindness too... Unfortunately, I didn't get here soon enough to see this trailer, but the concept and all the other film comparisons in the comments above have me very excited.

peloquin on May 23, 2010

Sound designer: So, we're gonna start with the gigantic bells from The Last Airbender, and end with the weird low brass from Inception. Cool? Don't worry, people on the internet never notice these things...

Enbee on May 23, 2010

is it me or the new trend of sound to be used in the trailers is the Foghorns???? is a disturbing sound i admit and if used cleverley magnifies the intensity of the trailer but come on its really starting to bug me.(and yes i know who cares if it does :D) to come to the trailer itself, it looks promising the concept is nice, glad they ditched the first name "the fallout" it would have created a big confusion with the game under the same name. the shots we have seen in this teaser looks good. the final scene suggests that there will be more than just survival amongst the group but also from the guys in hitech suits (as was stated in the explanation above :D) the setup it was shot looks like this one is a REC type of movie but i actually think its gonna turn out way different. if they could portray the human psyche under stress, and what it is capable of for survival genuienly this could turn out to be a sleeper hit. lets wait and see for more info. and pray they dont reveal too much, just enough to keep us wanting for more.. cheers

Burak "D'aequitas" on May 24, 2010

apocoly...EPIC!!...radiation will kill all...u can't go out...maybe if the fallout sheltor is in hollywood...then anything goes...

chilin on May 25, 2010

Shooting was delayed because of the eruption of the volcano in Iceland, which paralyzed air travel in Europe, also, Sean William Scott was originally going to star in this movie.

Voice123 - Trailer Voice Over on May 25, 2010

Jean Paul Sartre and I approve of this trailer.

Eric on May 25, 2010
