When did the Coen Brothers become German? An official trailer for the upcoming German hitman comedy Snowman's Land has made its debut on the internet on the film's official website (via Twitch). This looks like a beautifully shot, very dark hitman comedy inspired by the Coen Brothers, and I can't wait to see it. It just showed at the Edinburgh Film Fest a couple of weeks ago, but other than we're not sure when we'll see it show up. I wish it had better subtitles - we have to keep featuring good foreign trailers sometimes without subs (or a dub) because they're too good to pass up. I still suggest watching - now with proper English subs.
Watch the official US trailer (with subtitles) for Tomasz Thomson's Snowman's Land from YouTube:
Luckless contract killer Walter (Jürgen Rißmann) takes a job for former underworld boss Berger (Reiner Schöne) who has retreated into the dark Carpathian Mountains and run into some troubles with the locals.
Snowman's Land is both written and directed by German indie filmmaker Tomasz Thomson, of only a film called Silent Storm previously. This recently premiered at the Edinburgh Film Festival in the UK but doesn't have a US distributor. The film has an official Facebook page and official website, but both are all in German so explore at your own will. We'll keep you updated on any new release details for this film, so stick around.

I will wait for the inevitable dumbed down US version starring some reject from Xfactor/Twilight/Transformers (pick one)

One thing to use twitch trailers, another to use their reference to the coen bros. Couldn't come up with anything original?

Shit, spike, they come up with all kinds of original stuff all the time...but it never breaks the international barrier (unless you go looking for it, you'll never see it). I, for one, like the fact that we have some storytellers here in the States that are worth copying, and I am looking forward to seeing what tales they have inspired...
