London Boulevard Trailer

More British gangster flicks, hell yes, there can never be enough! Ready to see the In Bruges prequel? Not really, but close enough. A new trailer has debuted on YouTube (via SlashFilm) for screenwriter William Monahan's directorial debut, London Boulevard, a gritty British crime drama/thriller about a man just released with prison who falls in love with a movie star and finds himself in a fight with a vicious gangster. The film stars Colin Farrell, Keira Knightley, Ray Winstone, Stephen Graham, David Thewlis, Eddie Marsan, Anna Friel. This actually looks pretty damn good, I'm very much looking forward to seeing it now.

Watch the first trailer for William Monahan's London Boulevard:

London Boulevard tells the story of a man (Colin Farrell) just released from prison who falls in love with a reclusive young movie star and finds himself in a duel with a vicious gangster. Based on Ken Bruen's book.

London Boulevard is both written and directed by Oscar winning American screenwriter William Monahan, who's making his directorial debut with this after winning an Academy Award for writing The Departed. He also worked on the Kingdom of Heaven, Body of Lies and Edge of Darkness scripts. This was based on Ken Bruen's novel. FilmDistrict will be releasing London Boulevard in the US, but has not set a release date yet.

DAMN. Good for Monahan, the basic premise or...."story"....seems familiar but it looks like it'll go off in unseen directions, especially if Monahan plays some of the cards he had with The Departed. This also renews some lost interest in Colin as well. Seems like sharp fun, consider me intrigued.

Monahan doesn't seem to get enough credit, he's a very talented writer, and seems like he's got the directing skills down pat as well, I'm in. Nice to see Farrell and Knightley acting alongside one another. oh and David Thewlis Eddie Marsan are in it as well.

Thanks to this website, I first heard about this project. And because I loved "The Departed" and Monahan's work, I immediately bought the book "London Boulevard".......and LOVED it. It's such a fun, fast and easy read. After that, I got every book Ken Bruen wrote. He is such an amazing writer. I just really like his style and the way his books flow. Anyway, I've been waiting for this trailer. They certainly cut it close, the movie is out in the U.K. in three weeks. Can't wait to see it!

Also Alex, the movie is set for a February 2011 release in the U.S. By that time, the DVD should be out in the U.K. I'm blind buying this baby.

The Clash are the best band ever. More Mockney London gangster gibberish, but it looks good enough, I think in reality all those London crooks got scared off by Bosnians and Russians, but at least in films they can have codes of honour and other bollocks, plus dressing in suits? Try tracksuits.

For Joe and all of you Ken Bruen fans, his book "Blitz" was also made into a film with Jason Statham as Detective Sergeant Brant. The movie wrapped a few months ago and waiting for a release date. Glad to see Statham involved in another serious and better than average film/role. Such as "The Bank Job". I love Statham but most of his films are guilty pleasures. Anyway, "Blitz" has a handful of great English actors: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1297919/

@23 Colin farrell is a great actor but he will never win an oscar for best actor, of all his terrible movies you can really only say he was awesome as a supporting actor in minority report other than that hell never beat out the best actors...I am excited for this flick though it looks high action and sort of has a rock n rolla meets bourne thing to it i hope

People, The Departed is a remake of Hong Kong's "Infernal Affairs". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infernal_Affairs You're giving way too much credit to Monahan...

Def in, looks like a decent one of that genre

Colin can drop the Irish accent to do an American accent but can he drop the Irish accent to pull off a British one? It's actually tougher to adapt the Irish accent to the soft tones of the British voice - I hope Colin pulls it off, he's a great actor.
