Will Smith & Tommy Lee Jones Will Return for Men in Black 3D

Men in Black

The last time we heard about Men in Black 3, it was one of two potential projects that could become Will Smith's very next film. Though we still don't know if MiB3 will definitely be his next project, Showbiz411 caught up with franchise director Barry Sonnenfeld who told them that Smith is already signed on and, somewhat surprisingly, Tommy Lee Jones will be returning for the sequel which, as can be assumed with any upcoming blockbuster, will be in 3D. More than likely it'll be MiB3 that will take precedence as Sony recently lost Spider-M4n as their big Memorial Day 2011 movie, and this threequel would fit in there nicely.

Bringing Jones back is an interesting move considering that rumors surrounding Josh Brolin joining the franchise mentioned (SPOILERS) that Brolin may be in line to play a younger version of Agent K (Jones' character) in a storyline involving Will Smith's Agent J traveling back in time. But Brolin could just as easily be a new agent with Jones passing the baton and only making a brief appearance. Who knows? In addition to Brolin's potential casting, there's been rumblings of Sacha Baron Cohen and Jemaine Clement joining as a character named Yaz, who, given the unusual appearance of those two actors, is likely an alien. Either way, it sounds like MiB3 is really gearing up for production, so hopefully Smith will jump head first into the sequel.

DaftPUNKFAN on Apr 21, 2010

Boo, 3D.

Al on Apr 21, 2010

I'm getting tired of this 3D bullshitnanigans -_-

luishungry on Apr 21, 2010

Hopefully when they start shooting this, 3D will be done.

People's Champ on Apr 21, 2010

Well at least it'll be better than MIB2, let us be honest it couldn't get any worse than that bottom feeder of a film. The first film was great fun so here's hoping they get back on track and just forget about that embarrassing second effort.

CLAW on Apr 21, 2010

I'm getting tired of people always complaining about 3d on this site. We get it, you hate it, shut up already!

Cmurder on Apr 21, 2010

Cmurder the moment we stop bitching 3-D is the moment 3-D wins, WE WILL NEVER STOP!!!!!!

Xerxex on Apr 21, 2010

MIB3... *sigh*

DoomCanoe on Apr 21, 2010

They should Call these 3D movies, "enhanced depth perception.." Captain EO to me is 3D.

jomba joose on Apr 21, 2010

@#5- Nope!, 3D is just getting started, you wait and see whats going to happen, it's probably going to be like 3D in 2160p, for theaters and future HDTV's too!.

Jacen Achilles on Apr 21, 2010

#11 don't even joke like that! 3-D is just horrible.

Xerxex on Apr 21, 2010

When I hear about all these movies in 3D, I get more afraid than a girl scout selling cookies at Roman Polanskis house........ ..........too soon? In all seriousness though, 3D doesnt aid to the story, characters, plot, or suspension of disbelief. If anything it makes all these things harder to get into. Movies with 3D have basically become a $15 distraction.

Al on Apr 21, 2010

"I won't be, the 3-D just annoy's me." 3D is no more annoying than the improper use of the apostrophe.

Jedi on Apr 21, 2010

I would love to see Smith and Jones one more time in MIB3 but this 3D thing is just bullshit. The technology used for 3D is just lame. When they invent something that don't uses glasses, don't give you headaches and makes you sick...maybe I will consider it.

var2apo on Apr 21, 2010

Rather see Smith do this than Bad Boys 3 or ID 2 by far. I dont even a big MIB fan.

People's Champ on Apr 21, 2010

Xerxex, stop bitchin about 3D. You must be blind in one eye and don't even know it. You can always go to the screen next door and watch it 2D! Although I dislike 3D conversions, I'm sure these new big budget movies like this one will use the right technology like Alice In Wonderland and Avatar.

Jedibilly on Apr 21, 2010

Where you been jedibilly? I'm always bitching about 3-D, and I will never stop, you can't make me! Besides Alice in 3-D...S U C K E D. Avatar was not that impressive in 3-D...3-D subtitles? really? that's what I paid for?

Xerxex on Apr 21, 2010

Xerxex, you made my point exactly. People bitching about 3D on a movie-based forum all the time is just as lame as people bitching about improper grammar on the internet. You complain about it on every article about a movie being in 3D. You don't like it, we get it. Let's move on. BTW, you spelled "exclamation" wrong. Yes, I'm a fuckin spelling Nazi too. =P

Jedi on Apr 22, 2010

Wow if MIB II felt thin and unnecessary, I can't imagine how forced this will turn out. Tony Shalhoub (who I really like) will probably back, again, get his face blown off, again, the plot will probably be really predictable and the film will have an even shorter running time of say 75 minutes (that's with the 12 minutes of end credits) 3D is a fad and they're trying to cash in on a semi-nostalgic cash grab that feels ill-conceived. But I'll see it on Netflix for sure:P

Marc on Apr 22, 2010

If they would have this ready by Memorial Weekend next year they would have to start shooting by...right now. And if they want 3D, that would be even more a pain in the butt.

Mr.Cookie on Apr 22, 2010

Amen CMurder. 6 months ago, I didn't think there would ever be a day I could read the commets on this site and not see people bitching about remakes. But now it's 3-D. Seriously everyone, hate all you want, but realize that you can ALWAYS see a movie in 2D. There has yet to be a movie shown only in 3-D. And not only will you not have to sit through something you hate, you'll actually be helping the 2-D cause. Xerxex, you should vote with your dollar and not with your voice on the Internet. It'll be the only real way to get things changed

Buzz on Apr 22, 2010

MIB 3 really? the 2nd was horrible, do we really need to waste time and money on a 3rd film? oh wait this is Sony, of course we do. I agree that the 3d fade needs to go, but God forbid you voice an opinion on this site because you'll be ridiculed for it.

Chase on Apr 22, 2010

Why does every reference to Tommy Lee Jones being in MIB3 insist that he must be only making a brief appearance or passing the baton to another character? Is it so inconceivable that Tommy Lee Jones is coming back full time, the full monty? When did he become replaceable? Men in Black doesn't work without Jones; the whole franchise rests on the rapport he and Will Smith have. I actually think he's more important than Smith. Is it an ageism thing? Tommy Lee Jones is not that old people, and he hasn't aged on screen in years. Give the guy a break and let him come work his magic.

Cameron Cubbison on Apr 22, 2010

ooohhhhh this is fun, fun, FUN!!!! People coming at me because of my seething hate for 3-D! Jedi, Jedibilly and Buzz LET'S GOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! I'm never, ever, ever, ever, ever, going to stop my constant bitching about 3-D any article that is pertaining to 3-D will have my negative 3-D comments and guess what there is nothing you three can do about it! I love film, and I'm not gonna let some half-assed gimmick ruin what I love. p.s. I'll misspell what ever the hell I want! Its the internet, we use things like LOL, LMAO, ROTFLCOPTER, and much much more!!!!! p.p.s I like all of you guys, your opinions matter, and like me allows us to use this webpage! HAVE A GREAT DAY DUDERINO'S!!!!
