Screening up at the Toronto Film Festival next month is a new kung fu comedy in the same vein as Stephen Chow's Kung Fu Hustle called The Butcher, The Chef and The Swordsman from Chinese filmmaker Wu Ershan. I'm not exactly sure why, but Doug Liman is presenting the film at the festival and Twitch now has an official trailer from TIFF which you can check out below. This actually looks a lot more like a bloody, awesome, stylized martial arts movie than it does a kung fu comedy, but I'm in either way. It looks like we'll get three vignettes for each of the different stories, too. This looks good, I really want to see it! Watch below.
Watch the trailer for Wu Ershan's The Butcher, The Chef and The Swordsman:
A tale of revenge, honour and greed following a group of misfits who get involved with a mystical kitchen cleaver made from the five greatest swords of the martial arts world in this wild and brash action comedy.
The Butcher, The Chef and The Swordsman is directed by Chinese filmmaker Wu Ershan (who I can't seem to find on IMDb) who studied at the Beijing Institute of Film Studies. The screenplay was written by Zhang Jiajia, Tang Que, Ma Luoshan & Wu Ershan. It's based on the short story "Legend of the Kitchen Knife" by An Changhe. This will be presented by Doug Liman at the Toronto Film Festival next month, where it will be looking for a US distributor. We'll keep you updated and let you know what we think once we get to catch it!

If this movie goes in chronological order I hope it goes butcher, swordsman, chef instead of swordsman, chef, butcher.
