Zach Galifianakis

By now we're all familiar with the bushy bearded, laugh-inducing Zach Galifianakis, and if not, you've probably been living under a rock. While many of us are aware of his comedic work in The Hangover, and fewer of us familiar with his stand-up career before that breakthrough performance, I'm betting even less people know about his turn in the supernatural thriller Below. Hell, I wasn't aware until STYD pointed it out along with the news that Galifianakis is attached to the supernatural comedy Miracle Workers, where he poses as an "exorcist with a pal." They've got a good thing going until they're faced with a real menace.

Sounds kind of like a cool Ghostbusters meets "Psych" premise, or almost like The Frighteners, but there's plenty of opportunity for humor either way. Apparently a director announcement is on the way, so we'll be sure to let you know when that breaks. I have to say that, as much as I love Galifianakis, he has quite a bit of work cut out for him, and I'm worried about him becoming overexposed and losing his appeal as fast as he gained it. Later this year he'll have two new films out (Dinner for Schmucks & Due Date) and is currently filming It's Kind of a Funny Story with voicework on the Puss in Boots spin-off movie as well. And with at least three more projects in development along with The Hangover 2, you've got one exhausted comedian.

So basically, it's a present day rip-off of Terry Gilliam's The Brothers Grimm?

I'm so glad Zach has finally broke into the mainstream. I've been a fan for years. #3: Sounds like an accurate comparison, but I don't know if I'd go so far as to call it a rip off.

Haha, Ethan...Psych was actually the first thing I was thinking of myself. Love Shawn and Gus. I'd watch anything with Galifianakis, he's effing hilarious!

Craig: Yeah, I didn't mean that to sound so harsh. I like Galifianakis, and actually as M. Night pointed out, The Frighteners is a good comparison too. A combination of that and Grimm might actually be fun.
