After seeing the fantastic trailer for the dramatic comedy 50/50 starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen, you can bet that I'm interested in anything the film's writer, actual cancer survivor Will Reiser, and director Jonathan Levine (The Wackness) are working on in the future. Therefore, I'm happy to relay the news from a press release from Mandate Pictures that the duo will re-team with Seth Rogen as well as his writing partner Evan Goldberg for a road trip comedy called Jamaica that is also influenced by Reiser's real-life experience of taking a trip to Jamaica with his grandmother when he was 14-years old.
Reiser says, "This is a story that I've long wanted to tell. It's something of a passion project for me, and I couldn't be more excited to have found it a home at Mandate." Mandate executive Nathan Kahame adds, "Will is an exceptional writer with so many amusing life experiences to pull from and he has a unique instinct to bring out tender moments in comical situations." Of course, Reiser is writing the comedy and Levine will direct with Rogen and Goldberg are again producing through their Point Grey Pictures production banner. After their promising collaboration on 50/50 it's great to hear these guys are working together again so soon, and if the film ends up half as good as 50/50 seems to be, then we should have something to look forward to.
