A New Raimi 'Evil Dead' with Bruce Campbell is Really in the Works?

Some very interesting news to report tonight. It all starts on Dread Central, where they report from a "very reliable source" that a new Evil Dead, a fourth movie which was been talked about plenty before, is in the works and that Sam Raimi's editor Bob Murawski is out in Detroit starting work. But then things get a little fuzzy because Raimi is actually casting his other movie Oz: The Great in Powerful in Detroit right now (via BD), however there's hope. A tweet from a new twitter account that might indeed be Bruce Campbell himself (@GroovyBruce) confirms the news. It may actually mean there is something in the works. Read on!
So here's how the confirmation goes. @GroovyBruceb - Bruce Campbell but as of yet unverified - responds to a question about this rumor, stating: "Believe in the remake, dawg! The project is real. In the works. Cool as hell. Scary as hell." Now you never know if tweets are legit, but then again, others point out that on Bruce Campbell's official website it announces that his account @GroovyBruce is real and he just started it last week. So that's the real Bruce Campbell and he's saying this project is on - definitely sounds like we've got something, right? Our last update claimed this was potentially still coming soon, but it looks like things might be progressing and something might be happening. We could actually get an Evil Dead IV after all!
A few years ago there were quotes from Evil Dead mastermind Sam Raimi himself saying a "young director [was going to] come in and remake Evil Dead," focusing on amping up the visuals effects and sound with modern technology. We didn't hear anything for a while, but then some quotes popped this January saying, "I think Sam wants to embrace the ultimate experience in grueling terror and see it remade for a proper theatrical experience." That was from producer Rob Tapert, who said they were looking at an incoming script as well. Those are the facts and that's what we know, but we'll keep you updated. Could it be true?
Update: In addition to all of this news, Bloody-Disgusting is reporting that a director is in the mix as well, and it's not Sam Raimi. They've been informed that Fede Alvarez (Federico Alvarez) is directing the fourth Evil Dead, which is much more of a remake. Alvarez is the Uruguayan filmmaker who made the sci-fi short Panic Attack which became a viral sensation on YouTube. Interesting to see them attaching a young, new director just like it was originally mentioned all along. If this is true as well, it may mean this is actually coming together quite fast, all the while Sam preps his own Oz as well. We'll continue to keep you updated!

Wait, they're going to remake it? Wasn't the second one already remaking the first in more than some ways? I hope it'll be something original.

two separate projects. there were lots of talks of a remake but with little to no original cast/crew and that the originals would just be there for creative consultation. the article is THANKFULLY about a legit sequel to AoD.

if it is more of a remake, but most importantly still kept Bruce Campbell, i could go with this in the same way as Evil Dead II follows The Evil Dead, a sequel that's more like a re-imagining of the first film. 'let's head on down into that cellar and carve ourselves a witch.'

I don't think Bruce will be in this. They'll use some young punk like that guy from Drag Me to Hell.

You know that's what alot of people were saying when during the scene in DMTH, when Justin Long's character mentioned he wanted to take his girlfriend to his parents cabin in the woods..but we heard all this before about DMTH, about how scary and frightening it was gonna be and it was too comical and funny, it wasn't scary at all!

So what this article is saying is there is a remake planned, but at the same time Evil Dead 4 is being made?
