A Special 'Family Guy' 10th Anniversary Event is Coming to Theaters

September 14, 2011
Though the wild antics of the Griffin family on Fox's hit animated series Family Guy don't fall within our wheelhouse, when the hilarity of the show heads to theaters, that's when we pay a little more attention. In celebration of the series' 10th Anniversary (the time the series spent canceled after its premiere in 1999 makes this accurate), 10 cities will have a special one night only event on September 15th called Something Something Something, Anniversary which will show the first episode of the new season, the fan favorite episode Road to the Multiverse and a special 22-minute bonus called History of the World.
History of the World basically seems like an episode of the series in itself and you can check out a sneak preview of that segment over at EW. So this event really is just showing a solid hour or so of "Family Guy" in theaters. As for the season premiere, the episode is entitled Lottery Fever and follows the Griffin family after winning the lottery and struggling to stay grounded. Apparently fans in attendance will also have a chance to get their hands on new Family Guy merchandise courtesy of Fox Consumer Products, such as all-new interactive figures and playsets from Playmates Toys, games from USAopoly and a variety of Family Guy apparel, including an exclusive commemorative T-shirt. Anyone planning on going?
In order to get tickets, which will be handed out on a first-come, first-serve basis, you have to RSVP to the email addresses listed for each city below. Here's the full list as provided to us via press release with info to the right side. Something, Something, Something Anniversary Screening Cities and Theaters:
Atlanta - Regal Atlantic Station - FamilyGuyAtlanta@gmail.com
Boston - Fenway Stadium 13 - FamilyGuyBoston@gmail.com
Chicago - Kerasotes Showplace ICON - FamilyGuyChicago@gmail.com

New York - Village 7 - FamilyGuyNewYork@gmail.com
Philadelphia - Rave University City 6 - FamilyGuyPhilli@gmail.com

Sounds like a must-see event for any die-hard Family Guy fan, especially since it's limited to only 10 cities around the country. Although we never normally cover any TV shows, we had to make an exception for this as it is coming to our home-away-from-home - the movie theater! Sound good?

Meh, FG has really gone down hill lately...I've actaully given up watching McFarlane's shows...the guy is wasted on me.

I sent an RSVP. It sounds like it would be fun to attend but the midnight show time is a bit of a turn off. I'm not an old man or anything but normal people have things to do on a week day.

$50 says that History of the World is just a 22 minute long clip show, with a little coda at the end of Seth McFarlane diving into a giant pool of money, naked from the waist down, ala Scrooge McDuck.
