Alicia Vikander and Sam Claflin Land Lead Roles in 'The Seventh Son'
Just last week we learned that Julianne Moore would join Jeff Bridges in The Seventh Son, an adaptation of Revenge of the Witch, the first book in the Last Apprentice series by Joseph Delaney. At the time, we also learned that Jennifer Lawrence and Alex Pettyfer had passed on taking the lead roles of Alice and Tom in the fantasy adaptation. However, Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. have cast a couple of relatively unknown actors in the roles instead. Variety reports Sam Claflin, who has a small role in Pirates of the Caribbean 4, and Alicia Vikander (who was also up for Clash of the Titans 2) have landed the coveted lead roles.
Claflin will play Tom, the seventh son of a seventh son who is apprenticed to Spook, a local who job is to fight evil spirits and witches. But while Spook is away, the boy will soon have to face the powerful witch Mother Malkin (Moore) on his own. But that's where Vikander comes in, as the actress will play Alice, an enigmatic new friends of Tom's who aims to help him fight the evil witch. The project hasn't been given a greenlight, but with the cast filling out and Sergei Bodrov (Mongol) ready to direct, this should get off the ground very soon. Sound good?
