Amy Adams

With a cast that already includes Russell Brand, Alec Baldwin, Julianne Hough, Mary J. Blige and Tom Cruise, you would think that director Adam Shankman was done casting the major roles for the adaptation of the Broadway musical Rock of Ages, but you'd be wrong. Deadline reports that the filmmaker is "heavily courting" Amy Adams, fresh off her Oscar nomination for her turn in The Fighter, for a role in the 80's rock fueled musical. Apparently she would play a journalist doing a piece on rock star Stacee Jax (Cruise) who ends up falling into bed with him and even performing a rendition of I Want to Know What Love Is by Foreigner.

The part was originally offered to Anne Hathaway, but she recently decided to take a role in the promising little indie The Dark Knight Rises from some fresh, up-and-coming director named Christopher Nolan. Adams of course is no stranger to singing after her turn in the live-action Disney princess film Enchanted, and apparently she even has a song number in The Muppets. Apparently final word on Adams involvement will be determined as early as next week, so we'll try to keep you posted. Personally, I think this sounds like a really fun musical to see on the big screen. Thoughts?

Well its not specific to amy adams. I wouldnt do that with mary j blige but i would let her beat me with a curtain rod while arcade fire sang to us and tom cruise looked on in a fat suit.
