"This has all the elements of a sports masterpiece!" Two new trailers for the same film in one day, can you handle it?! Just earlier today we featured a brand new trailer for Michael Dowse's Goon, a Canadian hockey comedy starring Seann William Scott, now we've got another new one, this time a no-holds-barred red band trailer via IGN that will knock your socks off. I can't wait to see this, it looks hilarious and extremely violent and awesome in every way that a movie about a hockey player talented at beating people up should look. The cast includes Jay Baruchel, Liev Schreiber, Alison Pill and Eugene Levy. Round 2, Fight!
Watch the awesome new red band trailer for Michael Dowse's hockey comedy Goon, via IGN:
Acclaimed Canadian filmmaker Michael Dowse (Fubar, Fubar 2, It's All Gone Pete Tong) returns with his latest, Goon, a raucous, hilarious take on Canada's one true national obsession — hockey — and the divisive topic of violence in the game. Co-written by Jay Baruchel and Evan Goldberg (Superbad, Pineapple Express, Green Hornet) based on the book Goon: The True Story of an Unlikely Journey into Minor League Hockey, the film is the Canadian comedy counterpart to Jimi Hendrix's version of the "The Star Spangled Banner": sacreligious, twisted and, somehow, perversely patriotic. This premiered at the Toronto Film Festival, and was acquired by Magnet Releasing. Goon is available VOD February 24th, and in theaters March 30th.

Two things: 1). AGAIN, I feel like the whole movie was shown to me in the trailer. 2). It's no Slap Shot.

Slap Shot, thanks I thought I'd seen something similer starring Paul Newman.

I'm sorry, but this looks ridiculous, and not in the good way...not funny at all.

Hockey is actually our second obsession. The first is the United States.

I think that 'Goon' could possibly be a genuinely intense and hilarious comedy. Hockey fighting is something that has maybe a few times briefly (Slap Shot) been covered, but never a main focus. And yet, it is such an essential and sometimes overlooked part of the game. But on the film side, I love Michael Dowse. I think that Fubar 1 and Pete Tong were absolute masterpieces whether people enjoy the characters or not, the filmmaking was all there. And Goon itself looks to be a complete new direction for Dowse in a way that brings about an angle of the sport we haven't quite seen in a film sense and a side of Dowse we are all waiting to see. I am not saying it WILL be good, but I am saying it COULD be great. And for that alone, I am 100% in for this one. Hope its great because it looks like a gem.

Wasn't this supposed to be Hit Somebody by Kevin Smith? I even remember articles about casting Stifler as the 'goon' character.

I'm not gonna lie, I think this looks incredible. I'm not even a huge S.W.Scott or hockey fan, but this just looks extremely entertaining IMO.

Did Paul Newman star in a film like this back in the 1970's?

Kevin Smith has no reason or right to be pissed. This movie has been in the works for more than five years, which was before Kevin Smith went public with his thought for a similar movie. At no point was Goon meant to upstage anything on the mind of Smith, in fact the point could be made in reverse, that Smith got the idea of his movie from Goon - but I don't even know if that could be truly said of Smith, either.

Saw it, the whole movie tonight, wow hilarious if your a hockey fan and great if you like comedies, trailer park boys cameo, Eugene levy and George laraque. There were good parts in the trailers but some great parts in the movie especially with the teammates in the dressing room and at the bar after. Probably will see it at least 2 more times.
