Armie Hammer Joins Relativity's 'The Brothers Grimm: Snow White'

Another role for Armie! Relativity Media has announced that Armie Hammer, who starred in The Social Network and is currently out shooting Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar, has been cast in Tarsem's The Brothers Grimm: Snow White. It's one of many Snow White projects in the works, another being Universal's Snow White and the Huntsman, which recently lost Viggo Mortensen and is probably in trouble. Relativity's Snow White is set to star Julia Roberts as the Queen, with pre-production underway. Deadline is also saying that Hanna's Saoirse Ronan "could be cast" as Snow White, but is still only "in discussions" at this moment.
Relativity's Snow White, a retelling of one of the most beloved fables of all-time, will eschew the traditional story in favor of a more modern tale full of comedy and adventure. After her evil stepmother kills her father and destroys the kingdom, Snow White bands together with a gang of seven quarrelsome dwarfs to reclaim what is rightly hers. Armie will play Prince Andrew Alcott in the movie, which is already scheduled for a June 29th, 2012 summer release; shooting begins in May. The script is written by Melissa Wallack (Meet Bill) & Jason Keller (Machine Gun Preacher). I've been a big fan of Armie since The Social Network and I'm very happy he's landing more major roles like this, as he deserves them. We'll continue to keep you updated!
