Arnold Schwarzenegger & Bruce Willis

The trifecta of badasses is now complete. Following the news going around yesterday that Chuck Norris and JCVD were confirmed for The Expendables 2, the sequel to last year's action extravaganza, Deadline is now confirming that two other action heavy-weights - Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis - will be back for Expendables 2, in bigger roles. Deadline is saying the two have close deals for "substantial" roles in the sequel, which will not be directed by Stallone this time, but he will be returning to star. This is one hell of an incredible action cast they've amassed, with most of the original guys returning as well. Read on!

Millennium Films / Nu Image now has Simon West (Con Air, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, The Mechanic) set to direct The Expendables 2, with Stallone returning along with Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Terry Crews and Jet Li. The cast now also includes Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis. Damn, I'm excited, even though I didn't like the first one that much. Now we can really ask, is there any action superstar that isn't in this? This time I feel like they really are getting everyone, even beefing up the cameo roles that Schwarzenegger and Willis had. The project is already gearing up, as Lionsgate has set an official August 17th, 2012 release date next summer, which means they better start shooting soon. So who's excited for the big cast they've lined-up for Expendables 2?

Croniccris on Sep 7, 2011

How about Michael ironside as one of the baddies.

ur_babys_daddy on Sep 7, 2011

Hells to the Motherfucking YEAH! Also use Red Foreman from that 70's show!! he was bad ass in Robocop back in the day.

Enrique Rivas on Sep 7, 2011

Nice. "*itches leave" love that line.

AH-nuld is back! This is great news! Like I've mentioned before on this site: "The Expendables" was a kick-ass time at the movies! I did enjoy it as I, alongside everyone else, knew going in that this was not going to be an Oscar contender! All those naysayers proclaiming their dislike (valid opinions and POVs) will be there in line on opening night!  I sure hope that director West blows us away with this sequel as he's got a damn good shot to boost his action repertoire!  .....Although, I've posted my wishlist countless times on this and other sites, I'd like to see Michael Dudikoff added to this already AWESOME cast!!! .....I am there opening night, God Willing!!!!

I like how Arnold is going back into the acting career that he's no longer our (I'm a CA guy) governor, haha (laughing in a sarcastic way). Just like the first movie, ill see it for sure, but as a rental...I can't see paying theater money for another no plot, no point movie. I do hope though that Terry Crewes has a bigger part in it, i mean, he and some of the others (excluding Li, Stathom, Stallone) were just background BAs. And i hope this time around Mickey rourke does some fighting too

JBrotsis on Sep 7, 2011

Lmao I'm gonna have to bring my dad to watch this when it comes out- probably 3D too! I grew up watching these guys with my dad back when I was a tomboy. It would be hilarious to bring in some famous villains too.

S0623mm3 on Sep 7, 2011

Cool... I wonder how many of these action heroes will carry a cane on the show 🙂

Fffggg on Sep 7, 2011

I want to see The Expendables fight The Avengers. Talk about Epic.

Nick Sears on Sep 7, 2011

No chance. Arnold would take them out himself.

Daniel Vu Tran on Sep 7, 2011

is this feature film gonna be shot in calif. or is it going out of state like most feature films  what happened to hollywood ca. stallone willis norris arnold  if you take your filming out of calif. i hope it flops local 728 in hollywood  karma you old has beens and chuck norris BRUCE LEE  kicked your ass when he came to the usa years ago and you know it!!!

jim miller on Sep 7, 2011

I hope there will be more amazing fight scenes. If Norris and Van Damme are now confirmed, it would be good if they include Jackie Chan, Steven Seagal, Michael Jai White, Kurt Angle and Bill Goldberg

Donnie Benn on Sep 7, 2011

Agree with Donnie.... they need at least JACKIE THE FUCKIN MAN CHAN!!  Also Steven Segal. the other 3 aren't as important as the big action stars already booked.   NO JACKIE, NO EPIC all-star cast. To be ULTIMATE EPIC it needs all current (alive) action stars imho

Epic wepics on Sep 7, 2011

the first one was terrible... not making any effort to see this one

syntaxterror on Sep 7, 2011

ure an idiot imo

Luc Dulatif on Sep 7, 2011

You favorite movie is probably "Pretty Woman".

Andrew Clay on Sep 7, 2011

dude what movie did you watch? the first one was epic

Lorddudex on Sep 16, 2011

I want to see Mr T in the sequel!!! I loved the first film! And i was so happy hearing about a sequel but i was annoyed that it wouldnt be written and directed by Stallone. Stallone knows all about how to make 80's action films. These new guys have no clue. So we're gonna have the best ever cast starring in the crappest film ever made... Thats a damn shame. If it were up to me, i'd add Mr T to the cast and have James Cameron as the director (and possibly writer too!)!!! Anybody got the number for 'Make-a-Wish' Foundation?

gta_rosie on Sep 7, 2011

I'm all in for tha T, but I highly doubt that he'd be in it even if he was offered because of the violence.  <-- at least that was his reasons for no cameo in A-team

Anonymous on Sep 7, 2011

simon west is a old school action movie director and not a newbie... check out "Con Air"

Stevenfreestyler on Sep 7, 2011

Old school? 1997 isnt 'old school'! And Con Air isnt really a 'top action film'... He's hasnt directed anything worth mentioning. James Cameron would be the best choice to direct something as amazing as The Expendables.

gta_rosie on Sep 7, 2011

Do you know anything about James Cameron?  He would never come anywhere near this.

peloquin on Sep 7, 2011

You say that because...? Anyway, my point is the fact that all these great actors coming together in an action packed 80's style film should also have an awesome action director from back in the days when action films were great! Cameron had Terminator 1 and 2, Aliens, Rambo, True Lies... Thats a good track record. At least he wouldnt mess it up!

gta_rosie on Sep 7, 2011

what about stefen segal ?

Suresh3dartist on Sep 7, 2011

Lets add some more... Jessie Ventura, Bosworth, Roddy Piper, Russell, Don “The Dragon” Wilson, Michael Dudikoff, Marc Singer and the kicker CGI Charles Bronson to save all them all....

Anonymous on Sep 7, 2011

"all them all"... nice maybe I should write the script too :0p

Well the remaining action/fighters are The Rock - the most recent tough as nails guy in which Arnold basically passed the torch onto in THE RUNDOWN Vin Diesel - Finally getting back to the badassness of FAST 5 &a new R-rated RIDDICK Kurt Russell - Come on! Kurt is basically the last of the 80's action men to come onboard. I know he didnt want to be part of an ensamble  for the first, but surely he knows the success the first one was. Be a nice TANGO & CASH reunion to. Steven Segal - Well we all call him fat boy now. But he was in MACHETE. Speaking of MACHETE. Danny Trejo - Get the MACHETE in there. He couldnt do the first but dammit man he can kick ass! Wesley Snipes - Maybe Snipes when he's in prison can say 'teddy bear' and be a super mother fecker and perform M.D.K'S. Remember Simon says everybodys DEAD! John Cena - I know alot of people are a bit thingy on this guy and he still needs to prove he's got the balls to compete with the ROCK. I heard the MARINE was a piss poor effort, but 12 ROUNDS was decent even if it smelt of DIE HARD 3. Ray Park - DARTH MAUL, THE HEADLESS HORSEMAN, TOAD & SNAKE EYES nuff said. Bill Paxton - ok not exactley tough guy but come on he's played one of the greatest roles in sci-fi action cinema. and is the 1 of only 2 actors to be offed by a ALIEN - PREDATOR & TERMINATOR. p.s who remembers him in COMMANDO?? Micheal Biehn - KYLE RESSE, HICKS, LT. HIRAM COFFEY, JOHNNY RINGO, SHERIFF HAGUE, Nuff said Jesse Ventura - ol painless needs to have a final hurrah, theres a deleted fight scene between Jesse and Stallone in DEMOLITION MAN that sly says may never see the light of day :(. Micheal Ironside - He maybe looking old (see x-men first class) but this is the man who didnt make the party in TOTAL RECALL, and became a evil bastard in Extreme Predjudice. Clancy Brown - imagine the Kurgan bringing the pain! Nicolas Cage - again another one who's slowly coming back from the bottom of the barrell, imagine if the expendables found him in a cell in China as a former member who's gone batshit crazy. Complete with iguanas 😉 John Travolta - The man who basically makes any villain role cool look at PULP FICTION, BROKEN ARROW, FACE/OFF, THE TAKING OF PELHAM 123, also kicking ass in FROM PARIS WITH LOVE as well Liam Nesson - Recently becoming a kickass man in STAR WARS, KINGDOM OF HEAVEN, BATMAN BEGINS, TAKEN, THE A-TEAM & UNKNOWN he deserves to be on the list? Clive Owen - A former boxing man (not alot of people know this) and was in SHOOT EM UP and about to fight Statham in KILLER ELITE. Donnie Yen - imagine Donnie vs Jet thats to good of a fight not to have. Jackie Chan - Never happen methinks. as he never does violent hollywood films. Jason Mamoa - recenlty slicing the shit outta baddies in CONAN and recentley just wrapped up BULLET TO THE HEAD with SLY. Christopher Lambert - There can be only one! but he was Raiden thats gotta count for something :P. Christian Slater - BROKEN ARROW, ROBIN HOOD P.O.T - HARD RAIN maybe he's worth a shout. Gary Busey - Well if he's finally stopped sniffing the good stuff maybe he can add another badass to his roster from pastfilms LETHAL WEAPON, PREDATOR 2 ,UNDER SEIGE, POINT BREAK, SOLDIER. Antonio Bandares - It's the man who calls himself El Mariachi & carries a certain guitar case, if you see this man shoot onnsite! 😛 Plus he faced off against Sly in ASSASINS. Maggie Q - I know we got a shitload of guys but to me Maggie is the only one who sticks out, I cant see Jolie doing something like this (her wage would feck up the budget enough althoughi think she'd be game for it) and Milla Jovovich rather play with the zombies tbh. But Maggie's fight against Bruce in DIE HARD 4 was a standout that felt like a DIE HARD moment. Micheal Jai White - SPAWN hasnt really been in alot he was cut from KILL BILL, and was offed by the Joker in THE DARK KNIGHT but a recent revival in the MORTAL KOMBAT series would so be awesome to see him kicking the shit outta people. Tom Jane - I think Sly needs to give Tom a part in this as when BULLET TO THE HEAD  and was criminally replaced by the dude in FAST 5 I thought Tom would be a shoe in for a role, and Sly would have 2 PUNISHER'S hmmmm. Ray Stevenson - Why not have a 3rd PUNISHER. Also check out a samll film called OUTPOST very very good it has Nazi Zombies 🙂 Mr T - I pitty the fool if we dont get us some PAIN!!!! Hulk Hogan - The Suburban Commando can bring the pain in with THUNDER IN PARADISE. Lou Ferringo - The original HULK should have a cameo at least.

Leeseymours1984 on Sep 7, 2011

I like the Rock, Snake Pliskin & Mr T the most of what you said and Jane & Cena the least.

Anonymous on Sep 7, 2011

How about Roadblock from the old GI Joe cartoons. A poorly animated Roadblock acting alongside the live action stars. Make it so.

Anonymous on Sep 7, 2011

Get Reb Brown!

Gex on Sep 7, 2011

Sure hope they have more legitimate roles this time.  I smiled when they showed up, but the editing of the scene (and terrible dialog save for one zinger) was one of the worst parts of the film. Still I'm up for a redeeming sequel! Seeing it again recently it wasn't as terrible as I remembered it but it wasn't great by any means.

The "Tres Bottox Amigos" signed...

Type your comment here.the billing should be quite interesting on this one! alphabetical order perhaps being the most sensible way.

alex on Sep 7, 2011

the first one wasnt as good as the trailers made it seem, but I'm still looking forward to see the sequel.

Sparky on Sep 9, 2011

I don't care about what other people are saying like the first one wasn't to good I've been waiting to see this cast since I was younger for about 20 years, it gots to be good hell with the nobody haters I'm going to check it out no matter what!

Jay_swarm1 on Sep 15, 2011
