Ben Foster, Paul Dano and Others May Have 'A Good Day to Die Hard'

Ben Foster

Just yesterday we learned that the next action adventure for John McClane would take place on Valentine's Day with the release of A Good Day to Die Hard on February 14th, 2013. It's said the story will follow Bruce Willis as the tough franchise police officer attempting to save his son over in Russia where "nothing is what it seems." At the time, it wasn't known who would play the younger McClane, but now Variety says Ben Foster (The Mechanic), Paul Dano (Knight & Day), Aaron Paul ("Breaking Bad"), Paul Walker (Fast and Furious) and Milo Ventimiglia ("Heroes") are all up for the coveted role. More details below!

In addition, there's been rumblings from inside Hollywood that the role may even be bigger than just this one film. Apparently there's a train of thought that says the film could easily set up a passing of the franchise torch to McClane's son. Now this has even more of a dangerous relationship to Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull since that seemed to be an idea that was circling around Shia LaBeouf's character in the disappointing sequel. A similar tactic is being used with Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol with Jeremy Renner's character being set-up to inherit the action franchise. Honestly, I'm not sure I'm up for a Die Hard franchise without John McClane. How about you?

Aaron Paul! - but as a leading action hero, dunno about that.

My thoughts exactly.  I *LOVE* Breaking Bad.  But I don't want to see Aaron Paul become the star of a failing action franchise.

not the same without Bruce.....please stop before you ruin the franchise.

First choice = Ben Foster, second choice = Aaron Paul

Without Bruce, there is no Die Hard but for this one movie? Paul Dano all the way. He's so good and at this point, so underappreciated.

The title should be ‘Die Hard 5: Die Hardest’.Shia LaBeouf, Anton Yelchin, Zac Efron, Ed Westwick, Penn Badgley, Chad Michael Murray, Chace Crawford or James Lafferty as John “Jack” McClane, Jr.

Have you ever watched a Die Hard film?  John McLane is kind of a bad ass and actors from the Disney channel, One Tree Hill, and Gossip Girl don't really fit in with the franchise.

Paul Dano and have him be a badass. If Freddie Rodriguez (Planet Terror) can do then Paul can too.

Robbie on Oct 14, 2011

why cant we have the john mcclaine of old, who was just a half-drunk new york cop? who is this international spy consultant super hero guy? the character of the franchise is gone.

... no Willis no McClane no Die Hard. Enough said!

Ben Foster or Aaron Paul would both be great. Please not Paul Walker; he makes wood seems lively. on Oct 14, 2011
