A Star is Born / Beyonce

Aside from the short but exciting teaser trailer for The Hunger Games premiering last night, MTV's annual Video Music Awards also brought some shocking news from the music world that will in turn affect movie news as well. In case you haven't heard, singer-turned-actress Beyoncé Knowles revealed that she was pregnant. Normally this kind of celebrity news wouldn't be of any interest to us at all, but in this case, Deadline is reporting that the revelation means Warner Bros. will likely end up delaying their production of Clint Eastwood's remake of A Star is Born which was looking to start shooting as early as February 2012.

Beyoncé has been attached to the project for awhile now, but finding a leading man has been an on-going process. While Leonardo DiCaprio was previously being courted for the male lead, he has apparently decided not to take on the project. Names like Will Smith have also been mentioned, but most recently the role was also among a handful of potential future projects for Christian Bale. There's also a chance that the timeline could still work out, but as of now, it sounds like the project will likely be pushed back a bit to compensate for Beyoncé's new bundle of joy. At least this will give the studio more time to find a leading actor.

Congratulations to Beyoncé. I'm a new mother myself and I highly recommend having children. My hips are bigger...my breasts are bigger. I'm loving it! I feel like more of a woman now. It definitely makes me feel so much sexier than ever before.

For the sake of feeling sexier, you say, grand reason for having children, yes.

I would like to say I trust Eastwood's judgment, but I don't personally enjoy her acting. I find her speaking voice very grating.  I would love to see someone like Alicia Keys or maybe Joss Stone.  Amy Adams, even.

The producers need to have some sense and re-cast the lead entirely! I'm sure it would work out for the best as Beyonce is not a good actress!

I agree that Beyonce doesn't seem to be a particularly good actress, but has she really had anything of substance to work with yet? Goldmember and The Pink Panther do not a good actress make. And considering Eastwood's skill, I'd like to think that he could get a genuine performance from her.

Go Eastwood. This will be neat. Beyonce bugs me just a bit, but that's only I do not enjoy her music.
