Bobby Farrelly Says a 'Dumb & Dumber' Sequel Could Be on the Way?

Their most recently comedy Hall Pass just hit theaters this past weekend, but Bobby Farrelly (along with his writing/directing partner and brother Peter Farrelly) have their eyes on the future. Their vision even surpasses the long gestating development of The Three Stooges which is still searching for a solid cast. Speaking with Moviehole, Bobby Farrelly revealed a trip back to the well may be in order in the form of a sequel to the 1994 comedy Dumb & Dumber starring Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels. The film would be the Farrelly brothers first sequel, and hopefully they'll just disregard Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd.
Here's what Bobby Farrelly had to say about the potential sequel:
“[Dumb and Dumber] has run a bunch of times on TV in the states, and kids will come up and they’ll be able to quote lines from that – lines that I’ve long forgotten. If we could get those two guys back together, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels that might be a worthwhile sequel – and that ball is in motion. We’re starting to think about what those two dimwits would be doing twenty-years later in life, and hopefully we’ll be able to come up with something worthy of a sequel.”
The original film was certainly a hilarious comedy that the Farrelly brothers have struggled to duplicate in the past decade, so maybe a return to these characters could be good for them. However, I'm only interested if Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels come back this time around. Having those two guys back together for some more stupid antics sounds like just what the doctor ordered. In addition, it'd be nice if Carrey could get another decent comedy off the ground. Hopefully the brothers Farrelly can get a sequel together sooner than later. What do you think?

Actually, I think Farrelly's topped Dumb and Dumber with There's Something About Mary, then they hit the skids somewhat.

I heard back in the 90's that Matt Stone and Trey Parker were writing a sequel to Dumb and Dumber and then that project fell apart. Am I the only one who would see the hell out of that?

I would watch anything by Stone and Parker and their Dumb and Dumber would without a doubt include some hilarious musical numbers. Right now I wish people would start pirating Broadway Shows so I could get a copy of the Book of Mormon as I will most likely never get to see the actual play. =P

I think sequels have their place (Terminator: Judgment Day) as do remakes (Batman Begins) however, they are few and far between generally. I feel like a Dumb and Dumber sequel would never recreate the magic from the first one, but who knows, maybe it could bring us a whole new adventure worth going on.

The chemistry and genuine naivety of Jim and Jeff was the magic of that first movie. No disrespect to the Farrellys, but their great direction and a great script would still fail without Harry and Lloyd.

without a doubt the funniest movie ever seriously i don't think anyone can watch Dumb and Dumber and not laugh there ass off constantly.
