Brit Marling / Olivia Wilde

With Tom Cruise already confirmed to lead Tron Legacy director Joseph Kosinski's ambitious sci-fi project Horizons (formerly known as Oblivion), the project is now ready to fill out the rest of the cast. Variety reports Universal is ready to find their female lead for the film, and the shortlist includes Jessica Chastain (Take Shelter), Olivia Wilde (Tron Legacy), Brit Marling (Another Earth), Noomi Rapace (Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace). Of course, it sounds like there's probably more names than this also vying for the role, but these are the names auditioning this weekend.

For those who aren't familiar, the story (in an apocalyptic future where most of the population lives in clouds above an earth surface that has been rendered uninhabitable) will have Cruise as a soldier assigned to patrol a desolate planet who meets a mysterious traveler - a beautiful woman who crashed in a nearby spacecraft, and together they go on an adventure that forces him to question his world view. Certainly all of the aforementioned ladies fit the description, but it's Brit Marling that I would love to see in a big budget sci-fi flick like this, especially after all her success on the indie circuit with Another Earth and Sound of My Voice. How about you?

Olivia Wilde should also play the protagonist’s love interest in more of her movies. I wish she would go back to being a blonde (her natural hair colour). She was far better looking back in 2004 and 2005.

Wow, they really haven't got a type in mind yet, that's some variety. Too bad they can't use 'em all... and by they I mean...
