Casey Affleck to Play the Angel Gabriel in Alex Proyas' 'Paradise Lost'
Though the concept art shown at Comic-Con in July didn't really give us much to be excited about, the cast that has been coming together for Alex Proyas' adaptation of Paradise Lost, the classic 17th century poem by John Milton, which revolves around the epic war in heaven between archangels Lucifer and Michael, including the latter's role in Adam and Eve's fall from grace. Bradley Cooper is playing Lucifer with rising star Benjamin Walker set to play Michael, and Djimon Hounsou is playing Abidel the angel of death. Now Heat Vision has word that actor Casey Affleck has just landed the role of the angel Gabriel. More below!
An angel stacked with six wings, Gabriel was created by God to serve as His messenger and initially to work alongside Michael for Lucifer However, he ends up teaming with Michael to take down Lucifer. Affleck's last performance was quite a creepy turn in The Killer Inside Me, and we'll next see him in a role on the opposite end of the spectrum in Brett Ratner's comedy Tower Heist starring Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy. In addition, Deadline has word that the lovely Camilla Belle (10,000 B.C.) is being lined up to take the role of Eve, and apparently she beat out a lot of talented young actress for the role. Stay tuned as this project develops and more cast members come out of the wood work.

Hopefully they only focus on The Angelic war as there hasn't been a decent film on that since Walken in the Prophecy.

I think you mean the former's role, Lucifer's, in the Fall.
