Director Nicolas Winding Refn (Bronson) made a splash with the crime thriller Pusher back in 1996, and followed with two sequels some time later. Now the Danish director's film is being remade by director Luis Prieto, and the cast of the English-language version of the story has just been revealed. THR reports Agyness Deyn (Clash of the Titans), Richard Coyle (Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time), Bronson Webb (Kingdom of Heaven) and Paul Kaye (Match Point) will all star in the story of a week in the life of a big time drug pusher in London whose life soon spins out of control. Production starts in London next week.
In the film, the aforementioned drug dealer loses quite a bit of his product after being arrested and spends the rest of the film running through the criminal underground of Copenhagen trying to find a way to make up the lost stash before his employer kills him. Obviously the location has been moved to London, and Refn is quite excited about the prospect. He says, "Pusher was the film that launched my career and to have Luis Prieto direct the remake in London will be an exciting venture. It’s a classic tale with strong characters and has an engaging narrative. To see my characters, Frank and Tony in London, one of the most exciting and diverse cities in the world, is an opportunity not to be missed.” Anyone else interested?
