Casting Tidbits: Jay Baruchel, Sofia Vergara, Maggie Grace & More

Why would a reviewer make the point of saying someone's *not* a Casting Tidbit? Do you especially think I'm *not* a Casting Tidbit? You didn't even have to think about it, did you? First up, Deadline reports Jay Baruchel will star alongside Robert Pattinson in David Cronenberg's adaptation of Don DeLillo's novel Cosmopolis. While Pattinson plays a financial wiz kid who puts his life in danger by betting his entire fortune against the yen on a tumultous day, Baruchel plays the shy guy who founded the company, and acts as the trader's conscience. Samantha Morton, Paul Giamatti, Juliette Binoche, Mathieu Amalric also star.
Second, The Wrap reports Sofia Vergara ("Modern Family") is going to join the cast of The Three Stooges. Though Bobby and Peter Farrelly have yet to reveal who is taking the role of Moe, we're already aware that Sean Hayes is playing Larry and Will Sasso is playing Curly. Vergara will play a character named Lydia, but it's not clear what she'll be doing in the slapstick comedy. Undoubtedly the stooges will be quite enamored upon seeing the beauty show up.
Next, Deadline has word that Maggie Grace is back for Taken 2, once again playing the daughter of tough guy Liam Neeson. It's unclear if she'll be the one kidnapped yet again, but she will have some sort of role in the sequel. There was quite a scare a little while back when Neeson was said to be in danger of leaving the sequel, but the story was quickly updated with news that a deal had been worked out for Neeson to reprise his role from the surprise action hit.
Also, Variety reports Rob Riggle will play the villain in the big screen adaptation of 21 Jump Street. With that choice, it seems like they're going for an action comedy along the lines of The Other Guys, but that could be all right. The film has Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill as two undercover cops assigned to work in high schools and colleges with Ice Cube as their police chief. The lovely Brie Larson will play the female lead with Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller at the helm.
Finally, Variety reports Tim Roth has joined the cast of the indie drama Arbitrage from Nicholas Jarecki. The story (also written by Jarecki) follows a troubled hedge fund magnate who is desperate to complete the sale of his trading empire, but when he makes an error, he's forced to turn to an unlikely ally for help. Roth will play Michael Gower, a detective who's investigating a murder. Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon, Eva Green, Brit Marling and Aubdry Graham (or the rapper known as Drake) will also star in the film.
That's all for this edition of Casting Tidbits! Be sure to stay tuned for more casting updates on the way!

A bit off topic, but I thought it would've been nice to see Maggie Grace play Wonder Woman.
