Her lips were warm, and my arm wasn't the only thing that was throbbing. Our hearts were, too. My plan was to kiss her with every lip on my face… then slowly move her to the next room, maneuver her next to the bed, marry her, and start the Casting Tidbits. First up, Deadline reports Michael Chiklis has signed on to play the villain in Parker, an action thriller from director Taylor Hackford based on the series of novels by Donald Westlake, which follows the titular thief (Jason Statham) who at times is forced to be a killer, but still lives by a code that includes never stealing money from people who need it.
Second, Lionsgate announced via a press release that Elizabeth Banks has now signed on for the pregnancy-based ensemble romantic comedy What to Expect When You're Expecting based on the best-selling pregnancy guidebook of the same name. She joins a cast that includes Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Brooklyn Decker, Anna Kendrick, Ed Helms and Chris Rock in a film that focuses on five different couples dealing with the forthcoming arrival of a child in their lives. Banks is playing the baby-crazy author of a children's book about breast feeding and owner of The Breast Choice boutique. She's militant in her beliefs about what makes a good mother until she finds herself pregnant for the first time.
Next, Deadline reports "Justified" star Walton Goggins has joined the impressive cast of Lincoln, the biopic of our nation's 16th president from director Steven Spielberg. Goggins will play Ohio Congressman Wells A. Hutchins, a progressive Democrat who goes against his party and votes in favor of the Thirteenth Amendment to abolish slavery. The actor joins a cast that already has the amazing Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln, Sally Field as Mary Todd Lincoln and David Strathairn as Secretary of State William Seward. The film starts shooting this fall with a late 2012 release planned for awards qualification.
Finally, THR has word that Will Forte has become a late addition to the cast of the big screen adaptation of the musical Rock of Ages from Hairspray director Adam Shankman. The "Saturday Night Live" alum will play Mitch Miley, the head anchor of a network news show and a character that was not included in the original Broadway musical. The comedian is just one more fantastic addition to a huge cast that includes Tom Cruise, Malin Akerman, Alec Baldwin, Bryan Cranston, Mary J. Blige, Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, Julianne Hough, Catherine Zeta-Jones and newcomer Diego Gonzalez Boneta. Really looking forward to this musical for sure.
That's all for this edition of Casting Tidbits. Be sure to stay tuned for even more casting news on the way.
