If you were in the wild, I would attack you, even if you weren't in my food chain. I would go out of my way to attack you. If I were a lion and you were a Casting Tidbits, I would swim out in the middle of the ocean and freaking eat you and then I'd bang your Casting Tidbit girlfriend. First up, Variety reports Mexican actor/singer Diego Boneta has landed the lead role of aspiring rocker Drew Boley in Adam Shankman's big screen adaptation of the musical Rock of Ages. The director said, "I wanted to bring somebody… who felt literally like he came from 1987." Meanwhile, The Wrap reports Russell Brand is closing his deal to star.
Next, Cineuropa (via The Playlist) reports Michael Fassbender (X-Men: First Class) is set for a lead role in Good Vibrations, film which tells the true story of Terri Hooley, a man who many people call a punk rock impresario. In addition, Liam Cunningham (Centurion) is also part of the cast, and Richard Dormer (Five Minutes of Heaven) is likely taking the lead role of Hooley. Glenn Leyburn and Lisa Barros D’Sa (who directed Cherrybomb starring Rupert Grint) will direct from a script by Glenn Patterson and Colin Carberry.
Finally, Variety reports Alec Baldwin, Marisa Tomei, Thomas Haden Church and Allison Janney will all star in an indie called Lucky Them. Written by Emily Wachtel and Huck Botko (The Last Exorcism), the story follows a rock-music journo assigned to track down her ex-boyfriend. Botko (who also wrote and directed The Virginity Hit) is set to sit in the director's chair. The project is actually the final producing project for Paul Newman before he passed away and his wife Joanne Woodward has since taken over as executive producer.
