Obviously we've seen and featured plenty of posters, banners, trailers and all the typical promo materials for marketing movies in our years covering countless movies. Recently some cool motion posters have surfaced for films like Buried and Conan, but sometimes to make a movie truly stand out, you have to really think outside of the box. That's why I'm such a big fan of these fantastic neon-style ads for films from years past that look like all those neon light signs you see at any local bar. Below you can see a few of these rad neon signs made by Tumblr user Mr. Whaite for Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, Star Wars and more.
Here are some of our favorite neon ads from his Tumblr as originally stumbled upon by via Movies.com:
Honestly, if anyone takes one of these designs and turns it into a real neon sign, I would buy one in a heartbeat. My two favorites are the Back to the Future and Ghostbusters designs, but that Batman one with Jack Nicholson's creepy Joker face seems to be the most creative. If studios sent neon signs like this to theaters for their summer blockbusters, I'll be they would get plenty of attention (assuming they don't get mixed up with the neon signs for overpriced popcorn & drinks). If anyone out there has the means to make any of those neon signs, start making these and you might have a goldmine on your hands. Pretty cool eh?

Liked them all, but I thought especially the one for Star Wars VI was specifically interesting as it shows the conflict within Darth Vader.
