Comic-Con Hall H

It's back inside the doors of Hall H we go for another round at the world famous Comic-Con. As a primer to our Comic-Con 2011 coverage this week, I thought I'd run down the basic details including our schedule for live blogging some of the upcoming Hall H panels, from 20th Century Fox to Steven Spielberg's Tintin to The Amazing Spider-Man and Sony's panel. This year we're using a nifty bit of technology to bring you live blog updates live, without need for a refresh, so be sure to check that out once things start up this week. As always, we'll be posting updates on here and on twitter all throughout the week directly from San Diego.

Here's the rundown. FS only covers movies, but we'll be covering details from most panels throughout the week. Below is our schedule for live blog updates, with info on what else is that day. As always, refer to the Comic-Con schedule, but we'll bring you coverage on everything/anything interesting coming from the Con!

THURSDAY, July 21st:

No names/details have been officially announced, but our best guess is we'll see something from: Rupert Wyatt's Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Ridley Scott's Prometheus, Andrew Niccol's In Time and/or Timur Bekmambetov's Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

LIVE Blog 4:45PM-5:45PM PDT - Robert Rodriguez's Quick Draw Productions LIVE Blog

It was announced by Geoff Boucher of Hero Complex (who will also be moderating) that Steven Spielberg himself will be in attendance to discuss his new adventure, The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn. We're hoping to see Peter Jackson here, too!

12:45PM - 1:45PM - Legendary Pictures Preview (Live blog canceled - we can't make it in!)
Fans will be able to access Legendary's plans, garner sneak peeks at their movies in preproduction, and hear from filmmakers and cast members from the upcoming Pacific Rim, Seventh Son, Paradise Lost and Mass Effect. Panel participants include Jeff Bridges, Bradley Cooper, Guillermo del Toro, Ben Barnes, Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Alicia Vikander, Alex Proyas, Sergei Bodrov, Travis Beacham, Mark Protosevich, and Casey Hudson.

4:00PM - 6:30PM - Sony Pictures Panel LIVE Blog
Here's the official line-up, as revealed by Sony/Columbia: Mark Nevelinde & Brian Taylor's Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, Ruben Fleischer's 30 Minutes or Less, Len Wiseman's Total Recall, Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man. Quite a show!

Other Panels: Relativity Media presents James McTeigue's The Raven and Steven Soderbergh's Haywire (which we'll cover), Screen Gems: Underworld Awakening and Attack the Block, DreamWorks: Fright Night and At the Drive-In Presents Grave Encounters and Tucker & Dale vs. Evil.

SATURDAY, July 23rd:
11:45AM-12:45PM PDT - Francis Ford Coppola Presents Twixt LIVE Blog
Legendary filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola and acclaimed musician Dan Deacon present sequences from Coppola's latest film, TWIXT, and involve the audience in a dress rehearsal of the completely unique and innovative way they plan on performing it. Plus a Q&A session.

Other Panels: Relativity Media: Immortals, IndieVest Pictures: Knights of Badassdom, A First Look at Dorothy of Oz and An Early Evening with Kevin Smith.

That's our tentative line-up for the three main days during Comic-Con this week. You'll hear from us if any plans change, otherwise we'll see you in San Diego. Of course, we'll also be updating constantly on Twitter: @firstshowing for Alex and main news, and @Ethan_Anderton for Ethan, @TimBuel for Tim (of The Golden Briefcase) as well as @BobStencil and our guest writer Brandon @Brotodeau. We'll do our best to cover as much as we can, but our focus is on upcoming movies, any exciting/important news, virals and anything else we find that kicks ass. Additionally, our man Bob $tencil will be back out in force providing a few video updates, and we'll have our own video blogs, interviews, and much more posted during the week.

It's our goal to bring you some of the best coverage of Comic-Con around. This is our sixth year covering the world's greatest comic book convention and we're excited for another amazing year of comics & movies.

What's Quickdraw? I thought Robert's production company was called Trouble Maker?

Garrett Jamieson DeLozier on Jul 19, 2011

It's his brand new production company for "action-oriented" films (see link below), so I'm not really sure either. The panel is where we expect info and projects to be announced.

The article states PST, is that a mistake? Is not the West Coast on PDT??.. :'(

AnotherIMDBUser on Jul 20, 2011

I'm not sure, to me PST stands for "west coast time" in general: To be honest, I have no clue if we're even on daylight savings right now or not, I always forgot, but I listed PST because that's the standard abbreviation I always use. Sorry for the confusion!

Amazing write-up! This could aid plenty of people find out more about this particular issue. Are you keen to integrate video clips coupled with these? It would absolutely help out. Your conclusion was spot on and thanks to you; I probably won’t have to describe everything to my pals. I can simply direct them here!
