GOLDEN BRIEFCASE
Contest: Help Redesign The Golden Briefcase's iTunes Podcast Image
by Alex Billington
October 11, 2011
Hey everyone, we're launching a fun contest today for our official podcast The Golden Briefcase, hosted by Tim Buel & Jeremy Kirk. If you haven't been listening, they host a fantastic weekly audio show talking about all things cinema, with guests, and are just about to hit episode #80 tomorrow. The other day I was browsing through my podcasts in iTunes and glanced at the logo for TGB. While it's simple and effective, I thought we could come up with something much more worthy of an awesome podcast hosted by two movie geeks, so we're hosting a redesign contest this month to win a $100 Amazon gift card. Read on for info!
Here's the details! We're not looking to redesign the logo from scratch, we're simply looking to redesign and improve the iTunes podcast image (as seen below) - it is a 600px by 600px image that represents your podcast on iTunes for everyone to see. Anything will work, you can use the briefcase or not, or stay red and gold like the color scheme, or throw out our logo entirely for something else, but it obviously must identify The Golden Briefcase and hosts Tim Buel (@timbuel) & Jeremy Kirk (@jeremykkirk) in some way. Extra points for anything designed like Mondo posters, Drew Struzan or hand-drawn, we love that kind of stuff. Our favorite design, chosen by Tim/Jeremy, will win a $100 gift card to Amazon to use any way they like.
Your mission: to redesign this dull red block into something worthy of an awesome movie podcast!
To Enter: The contest is open to anyone who wishes to submit, even if you don't listen to this podcast, and we'll be taking submissions from now until October 31st, at the end of this month. To submit an entry, attach a 600px by 600px psd/jpg/png image to an email sent to TGBitunescontest@gmail.com. The image submitted must be properly sized and it's better if you can submit the original Photoshop (.psd) file, but if not, a high quality .jpg will also do. Multiple entries are acceptable, as we're looking to choose only one winner, one ultimate favorite, from the submissions. We suggest you submit a "final" version of a design instead of multiple iterations with slight differences, but anything that looks awesome, we want to see it!
Resources: We're providing a Photoshop version of the original logo we use for The Golden Briefcase - which you can download here. And also the original Photoshop version of the current iTunes image we use - download here. Both of these files are being provided in hopes that this imagery may give you a template to work from. Again, we're not trying to redesign the actual Golden Briefcase text logo in yellow, but instead focus on making this square iTunes image that represents the podcast as unique and awesome as possible.
If you have any other questions about this contest, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us. We're very excited to see what you guys can come up with, and thought that turning directly to our own readers and listeners would result in the most creative and unique designs that truly represent this podcast. And while you work, why not listen to the latest episode of The Golden Briefcase, featuring a discussion on robots in movies and debate over Real Steel. We can't wait to see your submissions - start sending them in anytime!
