Daniel Craig Reportedly Wanted for Five More James Bond Sequels

December 19, 2011

James Bond

Audiences won't see the return of James Bond to the big screen until Daniel Craig reprises his role as Agent 007 in Skyfall, the sequel currently shooting overseas with a planned release in November of 2012, but there's already talk about the British actor staying on duty for several more films, and making a historical impression on the franchise. (via ComingSoon) recently spoke to Bond franchise produce Michael G. Wilson who said that he would like Craig's run on Her Majesty's Secret Service to last a total of eight films, just long enough to surpass Roger Moore's current record of starring in seven total films.

Nothing is set in stone yet as Wilson merely says, "It’s certainly something we’ll be discussing with him once we finish shooting Skyfall," but it sounds like Wilson is adamant about keeping Craig in action for awhile:

“Daniel’s been a terrific Bond, a superb actor and a terrific man. The fans love him and I don’t think there’s a better actor to play the part. Filming has gone very well so far and I’d love Daniel to surpass Roger’s record and do eight pictures. Daniel’s been an absolute pleasure to be around because he takes the role so seriously. There’s really no one more passionate about making these films work than him – he’s a film maker’s dream. A lot of people have said Daniel’s been their favorite Bond since Sean Connery and I can’t argue with them. He’s doing a great job."

Obviously it helps to give nothing but praise to Craig when you want him back for five more films, but it's hard to disagree with his remarks. These new Bond films are the most gritty and grounded in the franchise, so this is a much different James Bond than the likes of Sean Connery and Roger Moore brought to the big screen, but his performance has been spectacular, even if Quantum of Solace wasn't all that great of a sequel to Casino Royale. Of course, a five picture deal is quite a daunting proposal, and who knows if Craig is willing to make that kind of commitment. In the meantime, well just have to stay excited for Skyfall.

What?,MB is a good actor but James bond, c'mon,I'd stick with Craig coz he's a damn good bond.

Hear, hear. I thought Craig wasn't really interested in that long of a run since it's physically very challenging.

Is it really true that Michael Fassbender's head was placed with Photoshop in another body during his childhood?

Manuel on Dec 19, 2011

Michael wouldn't be a bad choice for an old school bond.

TheLaughingMan on Dec 20, 2011

I LOVE Daniel Craig as Bond.  That said, Michael Fassbender NEEDS to be Bond.

Kevin on Dec 19, 2011

At least the franchise is still in good hands. On Digital there were talks that reality star Mark Wright of The Only Way is Essex fame was interested in the role. Thank God Daniel Craig still has the role.

Christian Bale or Tom Hardy as James bond after Craig

not sure of Bale or Hardy but Fassbender would be a great solution if Craig decides not continue on with the Bond character ... Fassbender has the    " swag attitude " that some others James Bond had in the past, but still Craig for upcoming Bond movies if possible

Im all for trying someone new in 2 movies time. Craig just looks, acts and even makes out with ladies like he's just pissed off and/or way too intense. His Bond doesn't have charm or levity, which is key for the James Bond character.

Thats why Fassbender would've made the perfect Bond back in the day,the man has suave written all over him.The new bond is supposed to be gritty and in your face but suave when he needs to be though. It would be nice to see a new old school Bond movies with the gadgets and everything lol.

TheLaughingMan on Dec 20, 2011

You're both wrong. Read the books. James Bond is a professional killer for the british government...he's someone who could kill you with a hard look. He's not supposed to be a pretty boy; the movies errored in making people expect him to be some kind of feminine wuss. Daniel Craig *is* James Bond the way Fleming wrote him. He's suave when he needs to be to ge the job done. His subtle charm beneath lethal exterior is shown in Casino Royale when he's eliciting information from the girl behind the desk at the club, and the guy's wife.

Egads! If Daniel Craig (43) were five or seven years younger than I would be on board for this. I too, love his interpretation of James Bond, but he simply will be too old for the role by the time they get around to shooting the third or fourth film. Two more is what I hope he does.
