Dark Castle Sets Up 'Non-Stop' Flight Thriller for Jeff Wadlow to Direct
From Turbulence to Snakes on a Plane there's been plenty of thrills happening in the mile high clubhouse, but that doesn't stop another film from taking action to the air every few years. This time Heat Vision reports it will be Dark Castle preparing Non-Stop for take-off. The new project comes from a spec script written by John Richardson and Chris Roach with Never Back Down and Cry_Wolf director Jeff Wadlow set to direct. Specific details on the story are being kept under wraps, but the film is said to be a gritty action thriller which follows an air marshall who encounters trouble on a domestic flight. More thoughts below.
Considering this is the first screenplay sale for the writers, and Wadlow's work behind the camera has left something to be desired, I can't say that this sounds like the most promising project, but Dark Castle has had some good action fun recently with Unknown starring Liam Neeson. After the success of that particular thriller, Dark Castle is looking to continue making straight-up thrillers as opposed to the supernatural and horror thrillers the company confined itself to previously. Despite the writing and directing talent, it's important to note that super-producer Joel Silver is also behind this project, so it could turn out just fine.
I remember when this script was about a plane that gets abducted by a giant UFO. They must have changed it on a rewrite.
