Darren Aronofsky Being Courted to Direct 'Maleficent' and 'Moses'?

Since the director unfortunately had to leave the director's chair for the spin-off sequel The Wolverine, we've recently heard that Darren Aronofsky might end up directing George Clooney in a sci-fi film called Human Nature that's been gestating for about 15 years. While we have no word on whether or not he will actually end up directing that film, it appears two more projects are vying for Aronofsky's talents. Badass Digest has heard from inside sources that Disney is looking to have the Black Swan director take over their Maleficent film (which just lost Tim Burton as director) while Warner Bros wants him for a Moses movie.
Just so we're clear, this Moses movie is not the same as the Fox project we've reported on previously that will be a 300-like re-telling of the life of the Biblical character. Instead, this film would be a less exaggerated story about the Exodus, when Moses led the Jews out of Egypt only to find themselves lost later and eventually doing that whole parting of the Red Sea thing. Aronofsky had wanted to take on the Biblical story of Noah previously, so this doesn't seem too far outside of his wheelhouse, but would he want to take on a story like this that wasn't his own?
As for the Maleficent project, that seems like a far cry from what Aronofsky would direct after Black Swan. Of course, I never would have thought a director like him would ever take on a comic book movie like The Wolverine, but that came very close to happening. At this point, following the success of Black Swan, the director can pretty much take on whatever project he wants. I suppose it's just a matter of time before we find out what project he actually ends up directing. It could even end up being Machine Man. What do you want Darren Aronofsky to do?

Maleficent is my favorite fairy tale villain and I always thought it'd be cool to see her on screen in a live action film. It'd be wicked cool if he directed that film!

At this point he can obviously choose any project, but I'm not sure if a big budget movie is the right thing. I think he's better with small arthouse films, but I'd love to see his version of Moses on of my favorite bible stories.

Please no. I don't think either of these films are right for him. And nor was Wolverine (Aronofsky doing superheroes? Really people??). The George Clooney sci-fi project sounds like the best option so far.

Since Burton is no longer available or interested, Aronofsky seems like the right director for a Maleficent project.
