Darren Aronofsky to Direct Sci-Fi 'Human Nature' Starring Clooney?!
Another new project for Darren Aronofsky following his departure from The Wolverine earlier this year, and perhaps a chance for him to finally work with George Clooney. Vulture is reporting that Aronofsky is now attached to a project called Human Nature, a 15-year-old spec script from writer Jeff Welch about a man who is cryogenically frozen and wakes up years later to a world in which humans have become pets of another species. And this isn't Planet of the Apes? Vulture says Clooney is "attaching himself to star" and that big producer Akiva Goldsman is developing and budgeting. Word is this may be next for Aronofsky.
Vulture doesn't have any other details on this script, including who or what this other species is, but I'm definitely interested. Last year Aronofsky also announced a sci-fi project called Machine Man, described as more of a "cybernetic thriller", but this Human Nature film may go into production before that. Despite not knowing that much about it yet, simply because it's Aronofsky, I'm interested; and because of that very, very appealing logline - what is the real story behind it? Plus, I've been waiting to see Aronofsky get into science fiction in a big way, and this could finally be that moment. With this and Machine Man on the horizon, it looks like we'll have plenty to look forward to from Darren besides The Wolverine. Intrigued?
Very intrigued. It's hard to judge the story from such a short description, but news of a new Aronofsky film is always really exciting, and when the news is about a sci-fi project, that's even better. What I look forward to the most is to see if Darren can make Clooney deliver a really strong performance on the level of Portman and Rourke.

I hate George Clooney... he's always just drab and boring and dry, imo.

Clooney has his moments, but most of the time he's just playing good ole George Clooney. The problem isn't that he's a bad actor, but all his scripts are written with him in mind. Very rarely does he get a script where he has to stretch his abilities.

Both Aronofsky and Clooney are overrated in my opinion. And I'm sick of all these directors fvcking around with these projects. One minute they're attached and the next they're not. Just fvcking pick something and commit to it already. Meh.

Hells to the yeah. Let's get this bad boy rolling already. This is going to be solid. Darren doesn't hold punches.
